The bolts on mine are in the top holes in order to increase the height.

Hey, you're welcome. I can not change holes any longer, as I replaced the right side lift strut with a "leveling box" ... only one hole.
Originally, I hooked the brush hog to the three point and it wouldn't hardly get the tail end off the ground. At that point, I placed the hitch pins on the brush hog in a lower hole. I'm redoing the driveway, as I had pretty much lost my "crown" and the water was just running down the ruts. I noticed, both the stone rake and box blade didn't lift as far, as I felt they should.
It works like a dandy, now.

I believe, what that adjustment did, was change "the center" of the cylinder position. In other words, if the tractor had been "up" (on a table top), so you could see how far down the implement went, I believe, you would have seen, that it went "way down", below the tires, therefore, it could not come up as high. .. as "ovrszd" said, above.

The maximum lift and maximum drop of the 3pt is limited by the stroke of the cylinder and the lift system it operates.

The adjustment you made allows the position control lever to maximize those ranges. Yours was out of adjustment and could not utilize the maximum lift position. The maximum drop would have still been limited by the cylinder stroke and lift system.

I'm just glad it was something so simple and not a mechanical failure issue of some kind!!! :)

The only condition, that I can think of, where you might want, the "draft arms to drop lower", would be, if you were plowing, and the plow didn't go down as far, as you would like.

I consider that type of use as the reason some CUTs and SCUTs have multiple pin holes in the lift arms and links. This allows operating range height changes.

Good point! I also can imagine, that some of the guys, new to tractors, wouldn't be aware of any of these considerations.

If a fellow spends a couple hours perusing this site and doesn't learn something he's missing out. :)
