I ordered something from England on Monday. I'm tracking it via the Royal Mail! :)

Sent at post office on 2/20.
Item collected on 2/20.
On its way to Heathrow on 2/20.
Arrived at Heathrow on 2/21.
On its way to KennedyNY on 2/21.
Arrived at Kennedy NY on 2/22.
Now let's see how long the U.S. side takes!

Aaaannnnddddd..... the USPS got ahold of it on the 22nd and it sat in a USPS facility until the 25th and its somewhere between NY and Indiana....
So, Royal Mail in England got it from there to NY in a day and a half.
6 days later and it can't get from NY to Indiana.

Did it have to go through customs? If so, see if there is a customs stamp indicating when they released it.

I'm pretty sure it went though customs. Still no word on its exact location. Just somewhere between NY and Indiana.

Don't bet on it. It may be in Alaska by now. Around here if a letter is mailed across the street, it will go to local post office, then sent 50 miles to Cincinnati for sorting, then 50 miles back to local post office, then delivered across the street. Takes 3 days but could have been delivered in 3 minutes.

Oh, I know. In South Bend, it goes to Ft. Wayne, then back to South Bend.

USPS here is getting bad. Had a letter that took 12 days to go 5 miles!

I am very sympathetic in regards to routing of mail and time taken for delivery.

I suggest next time drive it yourself. ;)

USPS is a bargain. Even if it takes longer than we think it should. Same for UPS/FedEx.

USPS getting bad? Who'd a thunk it? Apparently our regular mail carrier (female) is on vacation, or quit, or something. Saturday, I didn't get any mail. But since I get the mail for our neighbor on the north side of us and take it in to him (he's 87 and in bad health), I found our mail in his box. Today I found the mail in our box belonged to the neighbor on the south side of us. So I took it over and put it in his box, where I found the mail that belonged 2 more houses south of there, so I took it and put it in the right box. Then again, I found our mail in the box on the north side of us.

Lest you wonder . . . all the mail was plainly and correctly addressed, and all of us have our house numbers on the mailboxes. Apparently we had a carrier today that can't read.

So I called the Post Office to let the carrier supervisor know he/she has a problem. But I guess that supervisor has no problem; only us customers have problems. Because the person who answered the phone put me on hold, and I assume went home. No one ever came back to the phone, so eventually, I hung up.

If you call 1-800-ASK-USPS, you can file a complaint. The Postmaster or Manager is required to respond within 24 hours to the complainant, by phone or email, as you request. This is supposed to be monitored and tracked at the District level.
