Zerk, just what do you mean by this?

Just to help you understand a bit more about the coasts.. it is more of the ***** beliefs of big city folk vs. small town/rural than it is the 'coasts'. hy.

I really doubt you have been limited to ethanol gas for 20 years.

OK, since you are so wise, just how long has only ethanol been available at the pumps in our area? And why would I go to the the airport miles away for gas when we have no problem with ethanol? You might want to rethink some of your statements.

What is unique about your area? I have lived in wi,mi, in, and traveled through IL. Only 10-12 years where it has gotten tough. Last couple years outside big city corn free premium has become common again.

A check did not find when Illinois passed law requiring only ethanol at the pumps. You seem to assume all states are the same, not so. By 1980 cars had restrictive baffles in filler tube to accept the smaller filler nozzles of unleaded gas. It was unlawful in some states to alter, use regular gas in these which I and many people did. TN was one of these states. They would not turn on the gas pump if you attempted to use leaded regular in these cars as I found out. MTBE was used briefly until it was found to be poisonous then ethanol was substituted. It was not long afterwards that Illinois required only ethanol gas at service stations. You might want to be more careful before declaring people are incorrect.

IF you find info indicating otherwise, I would like to see it.

As quick search of the internet will give you "puregas.org" It list all states and locations where ethanol free gas is sold. It is still unleaded as leaded fuel has not been produced in the US since the seventies.

Robinson IL. does not have a pure gas station listed so may not be available.

As to Seafoam, I have a 20 yr old 6hp mower that I bought new. I used it for a few years then gave it to my Mother. After six years of ethanol fuel it was hard to start and the fuel line cracked and failed. Briggs manual states "Do not use ethanol". So when I got the mower back five years ago it was hard to start.
I added Seafoam and it smoked like crazy for ten minutes then ran great. It now starts with one push on the primer and one pull on the cord. Has ran fine for five years on pure gas and no issues.

I have trouble believing that, that town has not had it in 20 years. I think people over estimate or have poor memories when it comes to time.

Sea Foam is legendary in the small engine world, and for good reason.

Bumped into a guy recently who rebuilt a '72 Norton Commando about 6 years back. Runs SeaFoam pretty much all the time in that since those carbs are notorious and a PITA to clean - 5 seasons of use, hasn't had to service the carb.

If someone has a regional fuel formulation that doesn't crud up, be thankful - most of us aren't that lucky.

After local problems with E10, I buy only non-E gas here for small engine use. I always dose my cans with Stabil, and most of my small engines get a Seafoam dose at least 1 or 2 times a year.

I use it for cleaning action, but Seafoam is also useful for stabilizing stored fuel.

I have two 87 octane ethanol free within 25 miles, and one 91 octane within 40 miles. Had a local BP that was ethanol fuel, but the 93 was ethanol free, but that changed when it became a Phillips 66.

Since Stihl, Husqvarna, and Makita require at least 89 for their products, that limited what fuel you can use. Most stations in my areas were selling 10% 89 octane ethanol gas cheaper than the 87 in the early 90's. The ethanol fuel wasn't taxed.
