Well, just an update...I talked to the sales guy at John Deere who really gave me no time, didn't go out of his way to really show me any tractors, hasn't returned my follow up phone calls either. It's like he's missing in action, and no real interest in selling a tractor.

Same for the sales guy at Massey Ferguson, who I didn't even meet in person. Just over the phone, briefly... They have no tractors at their location, everything gets ordered in from Oregon. He called me back only once, talked for 30 seconds and told me I will need a much larger tractor. (100 hp) LOL

Screw all that. this Kubota is lookin better, even though the price is on the high side, at least the sales guy I'm dealin with is a generally nice guy, he even came out to my property to walk around and kind of get a feel for what I'll be doing.

anyways, I have to decide on something...I cant be doing this jaz in the summer. LOL

Shame on JD and massy dealers. Good luck to them.

Dave's Tractor is a regular on TBN.

Might be worth a day trip or at least a phone call. mention this thread.

I spent a little more time looking around.

Mahindra...closest dealer, who doesn't have a tractor lot, and is only for parts and services, but can get them, is in Patterson, 84 miles away. I called and left a message to the sales guy, haven't heard back. So I called a bigger dealer in Manteca who has them, 119 miles away, sales guy hasn't returned my call.

However, I did just talk with Daves Tractor in Red Bluff, 297 miles away...about the Mahindra 2555 HST. If I were to go with Mahindra, it would be the 2555 HST from Daves Tractor. Seems like a good unit. However, no 0%, well there is, but a $3400 penalty, also loosing a cash discount of $1800 and a 7.25% tax of almost 3K. (i did have him quote me with the GBS76H Gearmore 76" Hydraulic Box Scraper, 2555L Skc Loader, Ansung 6' Compact Standard Duty Root Grapple)

Massey Ferguson...closest dealer is 30 miles, no tractors, service only, salesman no where to be found and hasnt returned my phone call & emails.

John Deere, same, sales guy is MIA. Not really interested in a JD at the moment anyway.

LS dealer is in the city of Galt, 152 miles away..

I dont know guys...I may just bite the bullet and go with the Kubota MX 5200. Everything just seems easier and less hassle, way less hassle actually. I've read on here the MX5200 is a great tractor, and Land Pride implements are also good.

what do ya think?

Looks like reasonable options are inconvenient. That is one reason why your pricing is higher than around here. Little competition. If I was in you shoes and can afford it go with the MX. Great tractor.

One might try to save money going to a lower priced tractor, and the lower priced tractor may do everything that needs to be done very well. However, it is difficult to accept lack of responsiveness from the dealer or salesman. I may have bought an LS tractor and saved some money myself last year, but the dealership was closed on weekends AND there was no hydraulic thumb available for the backhoe. I may have accepted the lack of hydraulic thumb to save a couple thousand, but to not have the ability to get parts or supplies on a Saturday just wouldn't cut it.

When weighing ALL factors, the extra cost may well be worth it. I bought an MX and it is a great tractor.

Getting in on this a bit late and have not read all the posts, so this may already have been covered. If you have not done so already, you owe it to yourself to check the Kubota build site and see what retail is for this model. The quote you posted seemed high, so I did a quick look for you. Unless I was off on some of the options you are getting, the quote they gave you is a fair amount above retail. Normally, dealers seem to knock 10-15% off MSRP. Pricing can be different by location, so that may be your issue....although I have yet to hear of a dealer charging above retail.

I know in the Northeast, we do not do as well overall with pricing. However, I was still able to get approx. 12% off mine. If you find that the quote is at or above MSRP, I would go back to the dealer armed with that info and see what he can do for you. You can't go wrong with a Kubota and the model you are looking at is probably just right for your planned use.

The quote looked like retail minus the Kubota spiffs, for the tractor. I don't know the implement retail prices. As I posted above C&N is known locally as a full price full service dealer.

Mopardude, only you know your finances and the value of your time. For someone who is busy and makes good money it can make sense to take a more expensive option that saves them time so they can work more. And there's also the willingness to do the legwork to deal with a farther away dealer. Last, if you get a tractor from a remote dealer you aren't required to do all the work on it yourself- there are independent mechanics. There's at least one guy who services people up where I am. You being closer to real ag should have a better selection. But you'd want to have one lined up before comitting.

Kubota is arguably the highest quality CUT and easiest to get parts and service for. If you go with it your compromise is just spending more, it's not on the quality of the tractor.

I don't remember what's on the last quote or what the MX comes with but I suggest getting at least two remotes and if you're going to be doing much grading or box blade work, top and tilt. You might want to get the cylinders from Fit Rite rather than Kubota though- there's been some avalability and quality issues with the Kubota ones. There's a thread about that here somewhere.

Gentlemen, I have another question. The Kubota Grand L 5460 is $100 more a month, (72 months) everything else being the same. Vs the MX5200.

The Mx gets the LA 1065 loader, the grand L 5460 gets the LA 1055 loader.

It looks like the grand L with 1055 has a little bit more lift capacity all across the board, however I was told it's a lighter duty loader/tractor or has "less steel" I should say... The specs say otherwise ...unless I'm wrong...

The weight between the 2 from the pamphlet: mx 5200 3716 lbs. grand L 5460: 4023. Pto lift @ 24" behind lift point is mx5200: 2310 lbs. Grand L 5460: 2980 lbs.

Is the grand L a little more tractor? Worth the extra 7 grand?

It is nicer, hence the "Grand' in the name, but $7K, that's a decision you will make on your own.
