Why Kubota over others?

/ Why Kubota over others? #31
I went with Kubota as my first tractor because their dealer's (visited two) were the only ones, other than Kioti, who really seemed interested in earning my business. At a couple, I could barely get anyone to talk to me, and when they did, they weren't interested in listening. I ALMOST pulled trigger on Kioti, more bells and whistles for the same money, but the closest dealer was too far away. With Kubota, and JD for that matter, the dealer network seems to be pretty strong in my area.

I've wondered if the personal attention at Kubota dealers was because they ARE more about the UT and SCUT market, while the others are more focuses on selling big machines?

I am currently torn between Kubota and Yanmar for my next tractor. I love Kubota but I'm intrigued by the new Yanmar YT347/359's.

Both are 100+ year old Japanese companies. Both build their own engines and tractors. Both build construction equipment.

Yanmar is the world leader in marine diesels and has built John Deere tractors and supplied their engines for a long time. Yanmar's new hydro mechanical transmission (iHMT) is supposed to be more efficient and more serviceable than HST's. The YT series also has auto-throttle, similar to Kubota's HST+.

Yanmar doesn't have the name recognition that Kubota has but I like that they're being innovative, and I don't see parts availability being an issue considering their large presence in multiple diesel-related industries.

I do love the simplicity and brute strength of the Kubota MX series. I'm not quite in a position to buy yet, so I'll just continue torturing myself over tractors until it's time to buy.

Well, I've read all of the posts (so far) in this thread and there's really one common response. Dealership support & satisfaction.

There's a reason why your local area, as you look around and talk with neighbours, is predominately one or two 'colours'. The reputation of the local dealership.

I'm with you all the way on that one, Tractorable.

That is exactly my position right now, but no rush. I love my 19 year old Kubota L4200 GST, but before I go through the expense of adding two rear remotes, telescoping lower lift arms on the 3PH, a third function valve and a thumb on the FEL, etc., I think its time for a whole new tractor. And my wife agrees! :)

Decisions, decisions. Kubota L5060 GST or Yanmar YT359? ;)

I have purchased two new Kubota tractors in succession.

Kubota dealer is but six miles away. Even after eight years and three tractors I find Kubota dealer proximity and quick response to service requests valuable.

KTAC insurance is well worth purchasing. (Kubota Tractor Acceptance Corp.)

I remember about 8 or 9 years ago comparing Husqvarna to Stihl chainsaws and the conclusion was after hours of research and reviews could be summarized to one sentence. If you have a Stihl dealer close by, buy the Stihl, if you have a Husqvarna dealer close by, buy a Husqvarna.

What if there's both? IMO Stihl rarely beats the power-weight-dollar ratio of a Husqvarna.

Lmao that rarely happens, usually one dealer will far trump the other, I wouldn't take my saws to a hack that doesn't know what there doing and get it back still broken.

But being I own both Husqvarna and Stihl saws, around here it's harder to find a good place to service the Husqvarna's and is far more convent on the stihl's.

When I cut, I don't even bring the huskys now, just the stihls. My go to saws are my MS 193T and my 660 magnum with a 25in bar and .404 chain.

I bought a 460 magnum and the 193T in a pawn shop for $300, the 460 was rough but the 193 was brand new, the bar wasn't scuffed, after calling my cousin he said he would buy the 460, I had less than $150 in a practically brand new 193T, the 660 I bought about 3h away with a 36in bar and 3/8 chain for $500, I bought a new bar and chain for it, replaced the sprocket guard cover and bought 2 teeth for it, it only had one before and it had short teeth, I threw that out and had my dealer fix me up with the meaty loggers teeth. Now that I have the 660 set up how I want, I love it and also love my 193T, those two saws are all I need.

I have had those saws since 2008-2010 before I even graduated HS lol, I used to cut a crap load of firewood back in those days, now not so much. Now you got me rambling about chainsaws . I also have a 262xp husky with 20in bar, 3/8 and a 455 rancher same 20in bar 3/8 chain.

I never did use the huskys as the "Big Stuff Saw", in my opinion they don't do good on logs over 15in in diameter. Before the 660 I used a old 80cc McCulloch 1-53 with a 24in bar, loud and smelly but it cut big stuff much faster than the huskys, 20-50in oaks.

I still have that saw, I think I might restore it, isn't worth much, I gave $150 for it and cut with it for 2 years before I bought the 660. One in the vid isn't mine but cuts the same, sharpen the blade and cut all day, the manual oiler wasn't fun and the way the exhaust blows, when you get close to the ground or something that diverts the direction the exhaust blows right in your face and would make my eyes water. Heavy and extremely unbalanced but a great "Big Stuff" saw.

Top and trim branches with smaller saws and pull out the big saw for logs.

Almost forgot, terrible felling saw, turn the old girl sideways and she would die which struck me as odd being it had wrap around type handle, I felled and trimmed with the 445 rancher and cut logs with the McCulloch, I like the arborist 193 and 660 combo 1000 times more lol.

Heh! I was about to say that. I have them all very close, except for LS which is 30 min away. So it really comes down to quality, reliability, dealer service, and price.

Ironically, the Kubota/Case dealer is the least friendly with a reputation for the worst customer service (e.g., Seinfeld's Soup ****). New Holland has the best service.

Danisiri,
If you don't mind sharing, where do you live? I see you are also in TX, but I was curious as to who you local dealer is.
