Why Kubota over others?

Hey man it's all about brand recognition.

A guy sees loggers using a Stihl chainsaw and walks into a dealer and sees a 2-3k sticker on a big one and looks down to see the farm boss version that's only $400, he's gonna buy that one because it's the same color as the ones loggers use.

The same goes for everything else, perfect example, my dad brought up last week when I was changing blades on my husky that my sister asked him what mower to buy a few weeks prior, he told her that he has had good luck with JD (owns and bought new, a 445 premium garden tractor with just over 1000 hours) so her and her BF went to a dealership and bought a D series JD, I said they did what?!?!? Lol

I strait up told him the D series is junk and frankly I'm surprised a JD dealer would carry them, maybe that model has a better deck or something being sold in a dealer vs big box store idk.

He said don't tell them that.

People think just because it has the same name on it as commercial equipment that it's just as good at a fraction of the cost via the consumer market.

However, your Sister & BF asked for advice from a respected source (Father). She took that advice and went to a Dealership and bought a "D" series.

I also don't see what the problem in owning a "D" series Lawn Tractor is. I've owned mine for just over 4 years (150hrs) with absolutely no problems/breakdowns. It does everything that I've needed it to do, it's solidly built and it's never been in need of repair. Not "junk" at all.

If I buy an MS180 and try to cut down a large oak, I will end up complaining about Stihl "junk." However, if I take my 066 out and cut down the oak and then use the 180 to trim branches, I'll proudly talk about my Stihl chainsaws. Sometimes, it is the error of the operator that determines how good something is.

I would not try to uproot trees with a BX tractor. If I did, and it failed, the complaint should fall on me; not on the tractor.

I think we sometimes do a very poor job of matching work with equipment.

Locally, we have a New Holland and Mahindra dealer - but the sales person does not seem to be very encouraging and even steered me away from Mahindra to look only at New Holland. I guess my interests weren't important enough.

We have an LS and Massey dealer, but he doesn't stock Massey because they are too expensive compare to LS. The problem is that he is closed on weekends - when I am most likely to need his shop to be open.

The John Deere and Kubota dealer, however, is friendly and open. They listen and respond. I am not interested in attachments that are not SSQA, so green is out for me. (and this dealer has Stihl equipment - a plus)

While all tractors are capable if I know what I want, the difference may well be in the dealership rather than in the tractor.

That all depends on what you're doing with it. I bet I could tear one up inside of 2 hours with the kind of abuse my commercial Kubota takes and begs for more. But it wasn't a fair comparison because my deck probably cost more than the whole JD machine.

Over thirty years ago I bought my very first chainsaw, a Husky 50cc Homeower type 16" saw. I cut a lot of wood for 20 years with that saw.

In the last 15 years I gone thru 3 Husky saws, not junk but not as well built as that first saw. It is the last 10% of cost cutting that killed the quality. The current saw in a Rancher. I know I should have gotten a pro saw, or at least an higher end Stihl, but I got the Rancher on a closeout. Husky still makes a good pro saw, but the homeowner saws are not what they used to be. Their Rancher line is not a real serious saw. Sthil makes a line of saws just below their Pro logger saws, that have not been cheaped out like the Huskies IMHO.

Getting back to tractors, I'm sure gad I got the L39TLB, because I would have gone thru at least 2-3 regular CUTS in the +2000 hours of hard use.

Exactly. My D110 was specifically bought to mow around my house & property... I then found that it was great at mulching the chain-harrowed horse 'droppings', so it does double duty doing that. Third use is pulling a cart with my portable generator to where I need it. That's all I'm going to use it for, so a 'low end' D110 fits my purpose.

Anything larger and I'll mount-up the slasher on the 4105.

Parts prices are stupid and the dealers are all owned by one company that does not dicker.

Good for them but maybe not because I have a great Kioti machine now that I really enjoy.

My local Kubota dealer is independent, they were a JD dealer about 15 years ago before switching to Kubota.

I think he said Kubota's because in his list he has Kubota lawnmowers, RTV's and tractors. I wish I had that list of Kubota's.
