High quality defense ammo usually will have nickle platted cases, primers sealed, and maybe a propelent that has a little less flash.

You are getting a premium bullet that will expand. People forget that criminals are crazy and on drugs, and won't be deterred, by the same things we would be.

I think the current thinking even with the FBI is that the 9mm wins solely based on the # of rounds it will hold. There is a picture going around the internet with the Glock name and "body piercing". A single round in the dead of night might not stop anybody but a double stack might (my H&K magazine holds 15 and I can empty it pretty fast).

That's a reasonable price for the XD. Great guns.. I have had to put three rounds in a few porcupines with my 9mm to completely stop it, one round out of my 40 and it's over, if I need to shoot something I don't want it to suffer, from my experience shooting nuisance animals like coyotes, foxes etc, the 40 takes them out quick. I have rifles to shoot things with but a lot of times my handguns are quicker to get my hands on. I love the 9 for the range, fun to shoot and a little cheaper but I wouldn't put my life on the line with one against someone firing back at me, JMO.

There is some pretty good reasoning behind Leo officers not carrying 9mm pistols putting their lives on the line every day. As far as I know most agencies are carrying 40 at min, 45 and 357sig.

dont know who all carries them but Ive read quite a bit about the 9mm and seem they are pretty popular even among LEOs. I like it because less recoil and ammo is cheaper.

Read recently in real life encounters 90% of first shots taken miss the target. Don't know if it was based on fact or an internet statistic. Regardless, I'd rather be missed by a larger caliber than hit by a 9 mm

PLEASE let's throw the federal goverment out of this conversation when it comes to guns. For some reason, people think that the government actually thinks they know what they are doing:)

It was the same FBI that determined that the 9mm was insufficient as a defensive round becauase of the cluster **** in Miami.

Getting off handguns but in the same line of thinking that the government doesn't know what they are doing, it's just like AR-15 discussions and people thinking that mil spec is king **** when it comes to AR rifles because it's the military. Got news for you, mil spec means jack crap when it comes to what's actually "best" out there, but again, because it's the Military, for some reason people think that if something is mil spec, it's the absolute best out there, which can be far from the truth. I thought the standard Colt M-16 sucked in the early 80's, and it was refreshing to know that talking with some guys still in, Colt still seems to suck. But guess what, it's mil spec!
