Don't use the blank powder for anything. It is usually a very fast powder and can make huge pressures with anything more than the weight of the original wad.

ps.. you can safely deprime live primed brass.

I'm kind of surprised that your shells didn't pop.. what's the primer look like?

In my mind without a doubt, that cartridge falls too far into the chamber for the firing pin to even reach.. Who advised that .303 british could be fire formed into a .410 shotgun? I have never heard of that. I have always heard that .45 Colt would fit into the chamber. In fact all of the Taurus Judge models show interchangeability with .45 Colt and .410 shotgun shells. I think it drops too far in.

One thing may be that the primers are seated deeper in the rifle round case than a regular .410 shell. Gotta be a reason, and that shotgun firing pin sure has the power to dent in that rifle cartridge primer if it could reach it. Take your dial calipers and use the little depth gauge piece that comes out of the bottom of the caliper, and lay it flat on the .303 and run it down until the depth gauge hits the primer and note the reading and then do the same with a .410 shell and note the reading and report back. I would do it but I don't have any more .303 rounds and never did have a .410

Is this a recent, tight 410, or a 100 year old, loose, $7.98 behind the barn door special? :)
