I'm aware of that - but would rather have a Husqvarna unit built to Husqvarna's specs.

I couldn't find it, but a 1-2 years ago there was a thread comparing the Husqvarna GT models with the Craftsman pro series GT models, and they were identical except for some real hideous color schemes on the Craftsman models. At the time, if you could find the Craftsman on sale it was a couple hundred dollars less (regular price was higher). I'd prefer the Husky from a Husky dealer myself.

My L130 had ag tires on the rear. My first thought was to put ags on the new Husky, but I decided it didn't cost me a dime to try the original equipment ones first. I found them to be good enough, and far smoother on packed ground, so I'll debate the choices when they need to be replaced.

I would imagine it will be a long azz time before you wear out turf tires on a mower. I guess if your turning on a lot of rock and hard surfaces, that would shorten the life expectancy but I would still think close to 10 years.

All I can find says husqvarna made Sears mowers years ago like almost a decade, now there made by MTD.

This time frame mades sense because I was shopping for mowers back in 2010 and found the hydrostatic Ariens from Home Depot to be the best bang for an incredibly tight budget, it was $1200 plus tax and they threw in a black poly cart and lifetime blades (every two years) on the mower.

But my point is, looking for parts for this thing I found out that it was made by Husqvarna and I could order parts threw Sears direct because it was basically the same design that Sears used to sell back in the day. I forget the model Sears had that resembled this Ariens. LT2000 I think

I just got the YT48DXLS (I'm not sure what makes the GT "Heavy Duty") after my 15 yr old Deere finally bit the dust. I don't know if it's only my YT48DXLS but it's the world's noisiest mower. I wear 30 db shooting muffs when mowing so I'm not short of ear protection but this one has a most unpleasant and VERY loud low frequency beat note when the mower is operating. It's like being on some old, uninsulated military twin engine prop plane when the revs aren't synchronized. Maybe the designers made some unfortunate pulley size choices. Unfortunately not something I would every learn before purchase. Also I should never have let the sales guy persuade me against my better judgement that those tiny rear wheels wouldn't result in a very uncomfortable ride on anything rougher than a lawn, shame on me for that one. Aside from it appearing to be very sturdy, and feeling powerful, I'm very disappointed with this purchase :(

The frame is heavier, 7ga vs 11ga IIRC. 23 x 10.5 -12 rears vs 20 x 10-8 on the YT. GT is 630lbs vs 583lbs on the YT, 24 vs 23 hp, seat has armrests on the GT. IIRC, the GT has cast iron spindles on the mower deck, and the YT uses aluminum. My GT is far quieter than the Kohler-powered Deere L130 it replaced. It also has a far superior ride at the same speed - but it will run much faster. Not a fair comparison, as my L130 had ag rears.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have not seen a YT48DXLS in person. My data is gleaned from websites - Husqvarna, MowersAtJacks, Powerequipmentwarehouse, and others, and the evaluation of mine by the former owner of the shop where I bought it. There was no stocking dealer in my area. If not for the thread by HusqGT48DLXS on this forum, I probably would not have gone searching for this model - or even known it existed.

As far as the noise in your new YT, you might want to check the belt condition and tension, grease the spindles, and check the blades.

@ granculus

You can also deflate the rare tires, that makes a huge difference in ride quality of smaller wheels.

Sorry to hear that you don't like your mower, some tones and frequencies bother different people in different ways. It is possible one of your deck spindles are dry if you haven't greased them yet.

I found the outer hubs on my husky almost dry because someone missed them. It started squeaking when it was running, grease took care of it.

Interesting reference about the noise compared to a military twin engine plane. I own a GT48DXLS and am one of the first to take delivery of one in my area. I'm very pleased with it. I'm also a commercial pilot, with land, seaplane and instrument ratings. I have owned many single and multi engine airplanes. My most recent was a Beech B55 Baron twin engine, 260hp per side. Although I *always* used a headset in flight, I don't even use earplugs with the GT48DXLS. I'm guessing the YT has a different engine and different exhaust? The GT model has a Kawasaki engine. And, I find mowing on level ground to only need 2/3 throttle which is plenty. I tackled some hills recently and used full power, but most of the time, in my opinion, full power is just more noise and fuel burn that is not necessary to cut the lawn. At 2/3 power, which is normal for me, the noise level is pretty tame ....

That's neat, got any pics of the planes?

For one thing the GT gets the TuffTorq K66 transmission vs the YT running the K46. That in itself is a huge different for...... ding ding ding a $100 price tag difference! 23x10.5-12 tires in the rear is another along with an electronic locking diff. That transmission all day long is worlds better. I didn't order any YT models this year, the GT wins hands down.
