Some thoughts on Mobley since getting to use it a bit..

The software upgraded automatically to the newer revision.

getting -104db to-112db

and have anywhere from 2mbs to 22mbs down
and 1mbs. to 8 mbs up

Bill arrived in my email.
$25 for activation, will try and reverse it since I was told no activation fee by at least 2 reps.
and the Vid mentions billing in advance of the next months service??
total $ 49.01 does say $20 unlimited though.

EDIT: called connect a car and got run around on the activation fee, was told no notations were made as to being told no activation fee,
Then the guy disconnected me...
So called ATT customer service instead and explained what I was told by at least 2 online reps and the local store rep, she immediately removed the activation fee and then almost talked me into dropping dish and going with a Direct TV bundle to save more.
Will have to think on that one...:) So total bill was $25.76:thumbsup:

Still a bit confused as to how this is paying (after) the monthly service is provided?? Unless I was charged the $20 for about 2 days of service?

Does make me wonder if that was a factor in my poor TMobile performance, showed excellent signal strength but Speedtest was around 120-130 kbs.

Probably. You sure can't go wrong by doing it right, and you sure can't go right by doing it wrong.

All the RG6 cable around our house has 3.0 Ghz on it, so does the cable directv installed so I think frequencies wouldn't be a problem but you are right it is 75 ohm.

That 3.0GHz doesn't mean anything. It's not like a pressure rating for piping or hydraulic hose or something. RG6 is pretty lossy, and the impedance is 75 ohms, and that's not a match for the radio world. That mismatch is costing you signal, and that signal loss is costing you speed.

You mean, Do it over? :)

Doubtful as long as it is working, maybe a future upgrade :)

Just joking. Blue hose got it's name from looking like a blue garden hose, I think it is half inch or so diameter. Commercial stuff.

The main difference is that a new wifi router is going to have a significantly stronger signal than either the Mobley or a wifi extender. I've tried 2 or 3 extenders over the years and never been happy with their performance. They seem to often lose their connection and result in a device connected to wifi but with no actual Internet.

i recieved my Asus router today,
and i'm not sure where to find instructions to set it up with the Mobley
do i need to put in in bridge mode?
if so, are there instructions for that?
sorry, network noob...

Here's what I used for a guide. There isn't much you have to change in the config within the router but there are a couple key items (APN and DNS - you'll see). This post basically walks you through it. Ask questions if you still have some.

AT&T ZTE Mobley USB Tethering ASUS Router and probably others!!

omg, i went into the router setup,
changed it to either bridge or tether, and now i can't remember which,
and just clicked thru, let it keep it's network name and passwords,
and at the end, it said "your ip address has change, use your device network discovery tool
to get current ip address" and i can't get in,, so i screwed it up..
i was looking at that page, and read it was for linux so i didn't pay much attention...
oi,, i screwed up!

I would estimate the loss at 3GHz of RG6 to be about 20 db per hundred foot . I don't have a chart to confirm that, but I would bet a large amount of money I am pretty close. 20db is very significant loss. If you put 100 watts of power at a frequency of 3Ghz into one end of the cable you could expect about 1 watt to come out the other end. The other 99 watts would be consumed as heat along the length of the coax. No one would use 100 foot of RG6 at 3Ghz. Or even 50 foot. The reason there are not charts from the manufacture at these frequency's is because it is unthinkable to use it in this manner.

Not a problem... google IP scan tools for PC. or your android smartphone for that matter. There are dozens of free scan tools...I have several on my smartphone...
