What was the FIRST tractor you ever drove?

Late 1950s we had an old Allis Chalmers, not sure of the model but it was a big beast. It had a narrow front end that needed a crank to start. Arm power steering and the wheels were taller than me at the time.

An AC UC? My Dad had one that he traded in on an AC WD 45 before I was old enough to drive.

That's it. Thanks for finding it.

My dad would park it on a hill under a roof so he could coast it to start it sometimes. When I was a few years younger than my first drive with it I remember me and my sister playing with the controls while sitting under the carport. I told her you need to push on the control on the left for some reason, so I did it. The tractor started rolling downhill backwards and at 2-3 miles an hour my sister bailed off the rear and scurried off to the side while I rode it 100' all the way down to the hay pile, backwards and coasting. I just missed the barn. I must have been about 8 or 9 at the time and I guess that was my first drive.

Pulled the handles of my uncle's JD 430C? 440C? crawler when was 5 or so, but I wouldn't really call that driving. Spent a lot of time playing on Dad's Farmall Regular, but wasn't big enough to drive it (but my older brother did). Ran the two-wheel Planet Jr. walking tractor some, both making furrows for planting and with the flatbed cart we used as a sulky/carryall. But the first "real" tractor I really drove was Dad's 1957 Allis Chalmers B. Probably harrowing, though later I did a bunch of sickle mowing and used a trailer to haul dirt filling in the woodchuck holes along the drainage ditches every year, and of course, bringing firewood up to the house from the far back yard...

Ford 8N only because my leg weren't long and strong enough for Farmall H.

Me too. But other than the 8N, Grandpop's other tractors were big green row crop tractors I didn't get to drive until a few years later. I remember at 11 or 12 working around PTO stuff that would make OSHA types and child labor law enforcers scream for sure.

My Grandpa's JD 4020. I drove... and drove... and drove... that thing. I thought I was living large when he purchased the yellow umbrella and I could drive in the shade.
