It's nice when a plan comes together...

Older Trucks hold value if rust is not an issue.

My 2012 Eco Boost with 3.73 gears has averaged about 18mpg.

100,000 miles and only repair to date is a $83 for a blower motor controller. Still original brakes.

I'm feeling so good about my 2006 F150 with brand new engine... that I decided to fix the rest of it up. Bought a new front bumper and skirt and swapped out the mangled one (story for another day). Also the rails on the bed sides. Now my truck is like brand new except for the heel wear on the carpet just below the gas pedal. Easy and relatively cheap DIY repairs. She's looking new again!

My 2006 Ford f150 super crew has over 141,000 miles on the OD but I put a chit load of $$ in it to keep her running.

19 mpg pulling a 7000lb load, that's pretty amazing if that's accurate.

He said he's averaging 19, sometimes hauling about 1000# (he's getting well over 19) and sometimes hauling 7000# (he's getting less than 19) but he's averaging 19 overall, which is still pretty nice!

Mostly right, the 1000lbs of tools and supplies stay in the truck 24x7 which is why when I need to move anything of any size I have to hook up a trailer to do so. The light loads I've been towing most weekends are right about 3000lbs and the occasional heavy loads I tow (it's been being about 4-6 weeks between big loads) have been about 7000lbs.

If I were to do an 'off the cuff' average of my own, I'd say I see a max of 23-24MPG with just the truck and it's typical payload, about 17MPG when towing the 3000lbs, and closer to 12MPG tugging on 7000lbs. With a 36 gallon tank and the short trips I generally make (less than one hour of travel), I've always got a good mix of all of my types of driving. When I hand tally the MPG it always figures out to between 18.7 and 19.3 MPG. Dash monitor typically stays at 19.0. I'm pleased with that, my previous truck liked getting 15-16MPH on a daily basis and 7-8 when towing a load.

I did my both axles at 93,000 miles new rotors up front and pads all around. I also needed all new lug nuts as the chrome caped ones had been pruned up from the dealer rotating my tires every 5,000 miles.

Issue covered under warranty? Rear power sliding, heated window, and rectifier block for the fan speed.

I go through tires every 30,000 miles from a lot of towing and I need to replace spark plugs every 35,000 miles or I get carbon tracking misfires in my 3.5L ecoboost.

I have 3.55 gears and my empty average is 16-17 and my towing average is 8-13 mpg.

Whatever you're doing, I'll say this.... my 1993 Suburban gets about 12.5 in town and 18 on the highway.... I average around 14.5 per 42 gallon tank! It's a thirsty beast!

I'd venture to guess that your bare truck weighs quite a bit more than mine, even with my 1000lbs of cargo.

'14 Tundra double cab 4x4, 18.5 around town, 23 open road. So far my towing has been really short in town so I have no idea what I get there.
