I dang well better! That is what I was wondering too. The steering seemed perfect when it went into the shop. Gonna be hard to blame that on a grease monkey but I should ask to see it.Thanks for the update DE. I hope you get several more years of trouble free service from it.
They probably messed up your power steering pump when they pulled the pulley to remove it from your engine.
It's not you... there is a history of cam phasor and timing chain issues with this particular engine. They did put in a higher volume upgraded oil pump that was deemed part of the issue. Supposedly the rebuilt engine I got has several upgrades from the original OEM design. Will be picking it up in an hour! :cool2: :moneybag::moneybag::moneybag:Happy you're fixed up. Is it just me or does Ford seem to have a bit more than it's fair share of timing chain/belt issues?
I been fortunate i guess with my 2006 ford F150 with the V-8 triton motor. With 128,000 miles on the OD I change the oil/filter 3500-4000 miles.Replaced both driver/passenger manifolds to the tune of $1200 bucks plus the rear pinion gears at $1800.I dang well better! If it were me I would use Delo. I had great success with it in both our 6.0L Powerstroke Fords. She's back home! Man I missed my truck. I have to say the gal that I dealt with was great! Knowledgable, straight talk, and kept me informed, and went through the whole repair and their findings. I have a new 'go to' shop.
Got a new Motorcraft power steering pump as well as new engine. They did screw up the output shaft seal but parts/labor were no charge. The bearings were worn and shaft wobbly.
New long block with 5/50K warranty. Interesting that the oil now must be 'High Zinc' content 15w40 for life or voids warranty. OEM called for 5w20. Gonna have to post a reminder on the oil cap and manual. They recommended Delo 400 or Rotella T. I notice now that there is a T3, T4, T5, T6 at least, so I might need some clarification on which one... maybe doesn't matter. Apparently motor has redesigned cam phasers/springs to much tighter specs and it doesn't like the lighter oil unless operation is in extreme cold climate. All new hoses, belts, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, upgraded oil pump, etc. They seemed to have done a great job and had three different mechanics check and test drive it. They will do an oil change and thorough diagnostic check at 500mi, complimentary... yippee. Hoping this is my last truck unless I start playing the lottery and win.Since I only have 79K and it's a 2006 it should last me. And yes I just knocked on wood. Maybe some of you remember reading my original post (#27) in this thread where I mentioned my trouble free F150 and stupidly exclaimed that I didn't knock on wood. :banghead: Won't be bragging any more.
