I have a Yanmar 147D and the longer it works on the farm the more enjoyable it is to own the little thing. That said, in order to use larger implements, the fleet needs to expand for things like using a tiller or yard plane, back blade, etc. What are your folks perceptions on the YM336D and YM276 models? I own a Case 1845C skid steer that can handle the big jobs and jobs requiring a bucket.

I bought a 336D new. It was a great tractor, especially the transmission. I don't remember what they called it but it was 3-4 (?) ranges with 3 forward & rev. with no clutching, like a power shift. I'd like to still have it.

Thanks for letting me know the corresponding numbering system though form some reason the JD 850D shows quite a bit less HP than the YM336D, it seems more comparable to the YM276D.

The John Deere 870 and listed Yanmars all share a form of the 3t84 engine. 850 has a 3t80.

I've had a powershift 276D for 9 years. It has been a great tractor. Basically bulletproof. US spec, so parts are available, more or less. I love it.

The John Deeres will not have the powershift though which is a very nice option. Also be aware that many of the parts that JD changed from the original Yanmar design are NLA.
The 336D, 276D, 3110D, 2610D are all very nice machines in the same HP range with the powershift transmission.

Another good option which I didn't add would be the 3810D . same tractor. just turbo charged !

parts are available for the grey models too, don't let that deter anyone (well other than a few bastard or orphan models...and the newer greys, don't touch those unless your an electrical engineer and like to tinker)
