It's the unlimited for the very low $20 cost.
Just had Mobley hooked up to 12V trailer breakaway battery that was at a charge of less than 11.9 volts. Left it hooked up and the Mobley stayed on and functional for 50 hours before it turned off. I checked the voltage of the battery, and it was exactly 8.00 V. Now charging breakaway battery and was wondering if a battery tender would run the Mobley on it's own.
I have to ask, what is it about this tech that is driving people to it. No pun intended.
Is it the unlimited data at 20 dollars? And if it is the unlimited at 20, do you still have cell phones for voice?
Or is it the mobility? Seems the masses are making it a fixed spot device.
I'm using a battery tender hooked to a small sealed 12V battery with the Mobley also connected to the battery. Eventually I'll get an OBDII connector (using alligator clips for now) and wall wart, but this Mickey Mouse solution is working.Just had Mobley hooked up to 12V trailer breakaway battery ... You must live where you have lots of choices. Many of us are lucky to have ANY internet. The very best I can buy here is 1.5 Mbs WiFi at $50/month and there is only ONE provider. Getting 5 Mbs for $20 is a total no-brainer.I have to ask, what is it about this tech that is driving people to it. No pun intended.
Just stopped at local AT&T store, in Columbus to look into the Mobley. Talked to two different reps and got blank stares. 3rd one said "oh yeah" and pointed me to a display with some little devices with video screens?
Guess I'll check Monday when I go into Houston.
Edit: this is what they showed me.
AT&T Unite - Mobile Hotspot from AT&T
That's a ZTE hotspot, sold under the Netgear label. Great little device. I don't think you're going to get that $20 per month unlimited plan with that one, though.
