I meant it for all of us. We can all be idiots at times, and this site brings us all together to prove it. ;)

For now, there are ways to take that stuff off. I figure that it will change soon enough. I am of 2 minds on it. It is certainly going to be problematic to some extent, so tear it off. On the other hand, you would be polluting everyone's air unnecessarily, not just your own.

I can't imagine being able to take that stuff off, with all the computer sensors required to run it. Seems like a software patch would be needed, and I guarantee you the EPA would not take kindly to someone writing that.
Consider what they recently did to Harley Davidson for selling a tuning add on box, that would allow you to tune the engine after you stripped off unwanted parts or made mod's that required an adjustment in gas/air mixture. I think it was 8 million in fines and stop selling the turners.

The difference is Harleys run on the highway. The are OEM a proved kits to remove that stuff for plenty of OFFHIGHWAY equipment. For now keeping that stuff intact is not required by law.

I haven't located the exact statement in law yet, but I am following a pretty good lead that says it is illegal to sell an off road vehicle that has been tampered. (I am searching under 75 horsepower off road non carburetor engines ie diesel). This rule is by the EPA and the minimum fine from what I have seen starts at $25,000.00 so if you want to play with fire, have at it. The EPA has jurisdiction over all states, so good luck with thinking your state might not be affected.
The Harley's in question was just an example. The purchaser had to sign a form saying the tuner would not be used on road, but EPA still nailed Harley. I could have quoted Tractor Supply getting nailed for almost a million by the EPA for allowing their importer to replace non adjustable carbs with adjustable ones. Those vehicles were small ATV and mini bikes under 30 horsepower.
Won't take but a few people getting nailed for tampering of off road equipment to make believers of the rest of us, and then selling one that has been tampered with will become a huge problem.
