First Regen Experience

John,
ALL forums on the internet are equal, as they ALL contain mostly opinions, and are rarely based on "real data or facts".
I take any forum with a grain of salt. It dosen`t matter if its a tractor, truck, car, or even a firearm forum.
Words from what a wise man once said to me very long ago... never believe anything you read, and only believe half of what you see.

Now back to the re-gen thread... emissions suck, the EPA needs to be less involved on some things.
Climate change has been happening for millions of years, it will continue to change long after we`re gone.
The problem with climate change, is that people are making money off from it, and THAT my friend, will NEVER change.

Speaking of facts vs opinions, what do the newer owners/operators manuals say regarding recommended RPMs? Maybe that is where the division is happening here. Did manufacturers change the manuals to accommodate the newer tier 4 engines? Do they now recommend you run the engines at high RPS to avoid issues? That would certainly be a negative for the newer engines.
I've checked my manuals for pre tier 4 engines and none of them have anything to say regarding how to run the engine, other than break-in periods. For the first 50 hours they say not to run the engine at higher RPMs, some saying mid RPM or lower, for the first 50 hours of use.

GREAT QUESTION...!!!!!
Maybe someone could copy/paste BOTH manuals in here so people can read the difference...!

Kenny,
The EPA has WAY WAYY WAYYY TO MUCH POWER... they are forcing farrrrr to many things down our throats, and there is no stopping them with your kind of thinking. Thats pure dictatorship buddie...! People like YOU that allow all this EPA crap to keep festering, by using the kid & grandkid excuse, shame on you.

The additional employee labor expense (& additional engineering) that companies spend, just to comply with false climate claims, more and more rules and regulations gets passed on down to the customer. In the end, we pay twice what things should actually cost just because of time and money spent on mandated laws against us. Its nothing more than a LIBERAL AGENDA...!!!!

For instance, how much money IS lost to make these tractors comply with these worthless mandated emissions regulations.... and it all got paid for by you.... where does it stop.

Emission`s on a tractor.... just plain simply ridiculous.

Simple thread question...First Regen Experience. How many of the replies address the thread question? NONE. One is sort of related and that was the one who questioned the recommendations of manual to run at high rpms and yes it does which I can answer happening to own one of the aforementioned or supposed to be mentioned machines. How hard is it to let a thread for which you have no valid answer go by and reply to one for which you have actual experience? Been a member for almost one whole month and believe one has an answer to every thread having owning one small tractor? I for one don't appreciate your personal attacks while not having any valid input to the question of the thread. TBN usually doesn't work this way among longer time users. Most of us on TBN develop a degree of respect and avoid personal attacks while not always agreeing with each other. Kennyv has been a member for 13 years and doesn't deserve your (after one month of membership) caustic judgemental accusations for his opinions, right or wrong. They are his to have and express in a non personal statement of his opinion(s).

Threads often take on "a life of their own.." it happens on all forums. If the OP is unhappy with the direction the thread has taken, and wants it kept on topic, I can understand and would respect his wishes.. You, however, wish to jam your misguided, and many would say incorrect, opinions down our collective throats. Gaining respect entails giving respect...

I don't see "Moderator" under your name, so why not put a sock in it...

And i am entitled to my statements AND opinions too dude.
If your gonna wave a steak in front of a dog, you might wanna be prepared for that dog to attack the steak.

Let me sum it up for you... if a person makes a statement, its fair game for anyone to comment how they wish on it.

Thats life buddie, any way you look at it. Now go re-gen yourself and chill out.

If you go back and read page one, johnthomas was the first person to go off on a tangent about something other than regeneration or things that pertain to that subject. He wanted to brag that he has owned over 20 Kubota tractors, which most of them did not have the regen system on them. Then he proceeded to tell everyone that my almost ten years of having to deal with regen systems on trucks (regen being the subject) has nothing to do with the original post and that I was on the wrong forum.
I hope he decides to tone down his attitude and if somebody posts something that he doesn't like, skip it, (per his advice) and go find something else to read about.

You made the mistake of bringing up a topic on emissions, we've did that over on the EV thread 60 pages ago and still can't manage to get it back on the rails .

The OP was just a mention that a first regen for him was a no event, everything went smooth.
It is after other comments questioning the worth of diesel particulate filtration in general...
I have no interest in discussing merits of clean air with science deniers.
Too many folks seem to feel they should have opinions on things they have little if any experience with.
I do not own a Kubota tractor with DEF, that may change, I do however have that system on heavy equipment, and exactly like taking lead out of gasoline in the 70's we are taking as much pollution out of our diesel fuels as we can.
It didn't happen over night in the 70's and it took Many years of engineering before we came close to getting gasoline engines close to right. With every new generation of gas engines there are improvements, most are the results of mandated change, if you look at the 'excuses' why we shouldn't have removed lead you will see it is the same kind of 'argument' offered today about diesel particulates... The only way we collectively will do anything to improve the future is if we are forced to do it.
I may as well also state the obvious, I also appreciate hearing first hand experience and few on this board have had the experience of actually owning And operating some 20 different models of my favorite tractor brand,Kubota.
I enjoyhearing about new experiences, new tractors, and helping with occasional problems when I am able. There are some that also like drama in these forums, I don't much care for it and have appreciated the owner of this forum doing his best to keep it out... For those in this thread simply looking to 'stir the pot', myself, I wish you would find another place to do it.
And for the OP thank you for stating your actual experience with your First Kubota Regen. KennyV

I traded my M135GX after four years and did have a DPF replacement. Turbo seals failed and pumped oil through the DPF. Kubota said they didn't want me having an early filter failure resulting from the oil so they replaced both the turbo and DPF under warranty. Other than that there were no unusual events. I traded it on a M7 and now have both DPF and DEF. nothing wrong with the M135GX but I needed the additional power, weight, and larger tire size available.

I also bought a L6060 last October and love it compared to the L5740 I traded. Regens have been like the M135 - if it wasn't for the flashing lights I wouldn't know it was doing a regen. It uses about 30% less fuel than the L5740 (I chalk that up to direct injection) and have started it without glow plugs down to 20 degrees. The L5740 needed glow plug heat starting around 45 degrees.

So DPF has been a non-issue for me in 4+ years of Kubota operation. I would not have known the dealer replaced my DPF with the turbo if he hadn't told me. In addition I have a neighbor who traded his M100GX for a M6-131 because he too needed more power and size. Actually his wife traded it for him as a 90th birthday present. When he bought his M100GX at age 85 I thought he might have a problem because on the original Ms a person needed to press the button to enable auto regen rather than the current press to prohibit auto regen. He had no problem - he had about 2500 hours on his M100GX when he traded.

Will be confusing to the haters by telling about your actual experience and 8 years on TBN.

A friend of mine bought an L3301 last year upon my recommendation...
He was concerned with the Regen process...
I advised him to get the tractor he wanted and don't sweat the technology...
Saw him Friday...
A little over 100 hours and a couple of regens...
No problems thus far,,,
He's happy...
