Good morning!!!!

I was off today since I had to take my wife to a doctor's appointment (nothing to serious).

When I got home, after I went through my company e-mail and such, I thought I'd make a few more passes through the bamboo

I believe I had written in an earlier post this was going to be slow going (1st or 2nd gear, low range) since it's pretty rutty and there are some sudden dips
.......................................
After reading viewing pics pretty sure I am going to put that mower on my wish list well before Christmas.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 56° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85° with lots of sun. While getting wood to repair trailer I bought some 1/4-20 Carriage Bolts at Lowes. Easy 10 minute job. Not. Nuts froze up on threads on first 2 I installed. Spent some time getting nuts off. Checked a couple other of the 18 bolts. Several of them had similar problems. Decided I was not going to fight it. Took them back to Lowes. Got $13 refund. Off to TSC. Which is across the street. Bought 2.6 lbs of bolts and nuts. $4.50 and they fit together without problems. Trailer is ready to haul loads again. Not much planned today. Get new ladder out to replace a couple of yard lights. After I get rid of the wasp that have nest inside.
Roy, that kind of stuff I need to cut in my fields. Need to look into a Flail Mower.
Good Morning All.

cool morning and a very nice day here. Going downtown to pick up a new Echo brush/bush trimmer. Turns out the one I want to add the attachment to
doesn't take attachments. Sigh. I bought a brush blade for a new Echo 280 trimmer and used it for all of about two hours. Did not work all that well so it has sat in the
barn. So I had to buy a new weed trimmer head for this two year old two hour machine, and I will sell it to my landscaper for a bargain and not have so many similar units.
I have an older Stihl Combi unit I don't use, should get it going and sell it. Too heavy for me. Another machine with ten hours on it...not one of my better ideas giving to my wife.
All my Stihls never would start. All my Echos start. End of story. Operator issues I'm sure.

Landscaper said he was available on Thursday so going to try to rent the elevated 45 foot lift that day and get some big tree trimming done. Just want the stuff dropped, thankfully into a field, and I can cut it all up later. Expensive machine to rent. But tree surgeons cost a lot more. Called my insurance agent and confirmed I'm covered if I wreck the machine. But not for loss of rents to the rental place while the machine is fixed; interesting little tidbit. Cutting just overhanging limbs, some red oaks well over a foot thick though..., no full tree dropping. I just figure start at the end and work my way in.

45'? I have problems with 10' off the ground. Still trying to figure out how to get on top of my 2 story barn. Ridge cap needs some new fastener.

and I hate heights Ron, for sure I won't be all the way out there...most of this will be used by my 6'4' 280 pound fireman helper.
I'm going to rent it for two days, one I'll slowly do small lower stuff and second day my helper can do bigger higher stuff. I'd rent it for longer but can't get qualified help.

and.......I'm not getting anywhere near electric lines for sure

Good morning all, 60 now going to 85 with a 30% chance of showers. Don't know what I will get into today.

Daugen, Neighbor loaned me an 85 ft boom lift to take down a tree one time, worked great. reached within 20' of the top. Big white oak.

Don, Wish you were closer, would love to help with the cow pasture.

Have a great day. Ed

One of my neighbors had one delivered Sunday. I should wander over there and see if he wants a side job. I have several rental place within 2 miles of my place. What is delivery cost on that type of equipment? Rental is $375 a day in my area.

Thick dew and 62. Moving higher today, up to 88.

Finished the mowing early yesterday to take advantage of the damp grass from dew. Even with last week's rain, mostly consisted of grass and weed seed stalks.

Bush hogged 4 of the food plots yesterday, and saw the bobwhites again, or hopefully a second family since I was not near the first sighting.

Have to make 2.5 gallons of hummingbird food each day now, and add more feeders. Seems all the young and all the adults are hungry all day. Had to pick up 50 lbs of sugar at Costco last week. Almost a full time job, and the pay is great if you like birds.

My wife killed off one of the wasps nests I've been "growing" yesterday. She has less tolerance than me and it was in her way.

Saw a commercial on TV yesterday...one of those attorney class action lawsuits..."if you have used RoundUp or glyphosate, ...you may be entitled..." I thought that the recent research showed no link to any cancer. Well, plan is spraying today once the dew dries.

Drew, trusting you'll share good pix when you get that lift. Kinda sounds like fun. Safety strap, right?

She's also on the phone with Verizon this morning informing them that we are looking at other services, and giving them one last chance to do something about our horrible bill. I doubt they will meet the deal offered by Sprint, though.

You might give some thought to keeping the Verizon plan in place long enough to verify that the new Sprint plan has coverage everywhere you need it. Verizon's network is the most extensive in the nation (in spite of not working well at my house!), and outside major metro areas, carriers like Sprint often don't have any coverage at all. :2cents:
