Information overload-

iPhone - Wikipedia

I'm not sure what model iPhone I have. It's a 6 or 7 or something like that. We have had the iPhones for some time. They have all been good. We got the smallest memory available on our first ones but use it so much the larger memory was needed for all the photos, videos etc. The middle "sized" memory is what we settled on.

I do not have any hands on with the SE. Thinking about getting one.

It is the same form factor as the iPhone 5, but has the chip set of the 6s. There are some things a true 6s can do that the SE cannot do.

New phones should be announced early Sept so you will see some discounting on the current phones after that.

here's a site that compares all the different models..... Compare Every iPhone Model Ever Made ......one thing to keep in mind is that the older phones will lose the ability to update to latest ios......next in line to lose compatibility will be the 5 & 5c.......this doesn't mean the phone won't work anymore just that you can't update it for the latest patches and security glitches.......also make sure you get the correct version of the model you want for your carrier......this is a bit of a pain but not every version of an se will work for every carrier....so if you have att then your se has to be att compatible.......so look at that carefully before purchasing.......for whatever it's worth I just replaced my 4 with a 5s .....I used gazelle to buy it through.........Jack

Everything is in the wiki page above. If you are new to smart phones lets us know and we can walk you through some basics. The SE has a different camera and still has an audio jack. If you don't need a specific feature and are just looking to upgrade the SE would be fine- actually great. If you do need a specific feature let us know what it is.

iPhone 7 Plus here.

Bigger is better for older eyes and you have the value of more real estate to work with.

If you are looking to buy then wait a bit, the iPhone 8 will be out in the fall and you can grab it or get a great deal on an older model. Had a cell fone since the late 80's from Motorola 'brick', Nokias you name it and I buy the latest and greatest...NOT because its cool, but rather was a part of my job. You would not want IT Engineer to show up to consult with your on complex IT systems and his fone is not state of the art.

I've had an SE for about a year, it is the same size as the iPhone 5 but with most of the internals of a 6, I think, I don't care.
I liked my 5 because in an Otterbox Defender it will fit into shirt pockets and side pockets of carpenter jeans, the SE literally went in the same Defender case.

So I have an SE, it makes calls, it internets, takes pictures and videos and sends texts. All this and it still fits in my shirt pockets.

What I'm new to modern smart phones...in the early and mid 90's I was a WAP developer...I wrote some of the first scripts that brought animated weather radar images to early mobile phones...later I worked on an application (we didn't call them apps then) to view traffic cams...back then every time the phone manufacturers would change the browser on their phones they would send me the latest/greatest...also used a lot of virtual simulators...
Time warp skip forward...
No cell service here... have had no use for a phone except for road emergencies...

I am mainly interested in the video cameras (recording, not viewing).
Again no service here so there is really no point in turning the phone on at home other than to use the cameras and maybe the wi-fi..

This is strictly a decision between the 6 and the SE...

Thanks for the insights...

The one thing that I would like the slightly larger screen is for reading e-books but am leaning towards the SE...I have several readers...
