Yeah, the wife came up with the "need" but couldn't think of any way to really do it. She constructed a couple of cardboard contraptions but they didn't work and asked me to think of something. It took me a little bit to think this up. I decided that simple is best and let gravity be your friend. The wife loves it, and it sped up the cross production up by about a factor of 10

I made this choker for pulling trees and bushes. Just used it a few days ago works great. The choker hook posted here would go well with my choker. So I'm going to make choker hook.

If you feel your ears burning- it's because I'm copying that :thumbsup:

We use ours to pull shrubs, small trees, or I guess pallets- but basically anything the jaws will fit around- and for some of the smaller ones, they actually fit into the gap left when the jaws close completely, making the connection even more secure.

They were less expensive than the purpose built brush pullers/"grubbers" with the same capacity, and have a higher rated capacity than ones that are priced similarly, so I thought they were a good deal:

They match the jaw capacity of one which Northern has priced at $99...

They are slightly smaller than another one, [5" jaw opening vs 6"] but with a price difference of approx $130- Northern wants $165 [], I think they were still a good deal. :laughing:

There is also a $220 set that opens up to 8", but my little tractor would never budge anything that big anyway....

Then that family of tools also has shrub grubbers- but I like your design a lot more:

FYI if you already possess one of these "grubbers" it can also be used as a pallet puller.



One example might be not being able to reach that pallet of feed at the front of your pickup truck. Hook the puller to the vertical, center 2x4 stringer (NOT the top boards) and chain it out to the tailgate where you can reach it with your forks.

See- that's what I like about TBN- we make things work in ways they were not originally created for.

I also use ours manually sometimes with a short length of chain [or rope with a loop in the end] to shift pallets that we can't get into with our forks.

The black ones in my post above is actually sold as, and works well as a pallet puller.

I just also use it to pull trees and bushes.

OK I know I posted this before, but that was a long time ago. This thing makes me smile every time I use it. Just a few boards screwed together, makes it very easy to cut plywood and other sheet goods accurately, without sagging or binding.

In this case it is 4x8 sheets of lattice, an awkward material. But cutting to size is a piece of cake with this setup, it is probably 12 years old now.
