I dont use the lock nut on mine. I just hand tighten the turn buckle and then put the cotter pin in the threaded rod.

Go mowing through heavy brush, grass or thickets, you will wish you used that lock nut. I used to do the same thing until I lost check chains or check rods, they are pricey!!!! That pin can come right out and vibration does the rest.... before ya know it...... they are gone

True, like most tractor parts they are high. Most of my use has been with a box scrape and not much with a bush hog yet. I'll use them next time, may start the search for some of the extendable links instead of the pats easy change I was looking at.

I have a 2540 (shuttle) and find that the stabilizer comes loose frequently when I use a stump grinder (there can be extreme vibration!) I think the next step is top'n'tilt cylinders, and maybe I'll locktite the other stabilizer.
