The New 424 - It just got real!

If you plan on digging much with the loader, I highly recommend getting a piranha tooth bar. I tried digging with and without the bar and the difference is astounding.

I do plan on digging in a bicycle track (building jumps and berms) so increasing the digging ability would be great. I just looked at Piranha website and looks like I need to get the bucket measurements. Did you get the step drill bit with it for installation too?

I did use a step bit, but I did not get mine from BXpanded. I got this bit from Amazon (probably identical) and used it with my 18volt Milwaukee cordless drill. The PTB instructions also tell you to drill pilot holes for the step bit, which is a good idea. I did this and it keeps your step bit from "dancing away" from your intended location once you start your hole. The 424 has a black loader bucket, so a white marking pencil came in handy. The kit includes white marking stickers though. BXpanded recommends a 3/4" hole so you have some compensatory play. However, with enough careful measuring I was able to go with an 11/16" easily, or one step smaller on the bit. You'll also want a couple of good clamps, or at least one, plus a wood block and mallet to make sure the bar is seated well before marking. This was my first time ever using a step bit, so I think anybody can do it.

As I continue to accessorize my 424 TLB, I noticed on Amazon somebody was selling the sign I didn't know I needed until now. Perfect addition to the property! 20170909_191121.jpg

I noticed on the left side fender storage box (behind cup holder) there is a rubber plug that looks like is plugging up what could be a place where an optional 12v power socket would be placed. Does anybody know if Yanmar sells a kit to add this on or would I be better off buying something like this and wiring it myself?

Thanks!

Yanmar probably sells a kit. I had my dealer install that as an option. I can't remember the exact price but it was a fairly cheap box to check (maybe $15 or 20?) , so I figured why not. I don't use it now but I might later. Sorry, no personal installation experience.

Thanks Mike! I'll check with a dealer and see if I can order one.

I'm going to rig up a spot sprayer on the 3 point hitch so being able to plug it in right on the fender will be really handy.

I'm on the fence, and been for awhile. Is there a model a little larger or is the 424 the last one? I have an JD855 at 23 hp and the FEL is rated at 600 lbs and I can attest that's the rating at new not now. I would love to be in around 30 to 35 hp. Am looking at Kioti now because my friend has one, and it's smaller than my JD and out performs it hands down.
