Hello,

The weekend is almost here!

It looks like we need a new Brush Hog/Mower whatever they are called for our used New Holland 3930 tractor.

We bought it used and the JD mower, model 513 I believe, was not good, it was broken from the blades, and my FIL is having a hard time getting it out.

He is ready for a new brush hog/mower that we can use on the property, it has tough native grass, about 8 acres.

In your opinion, which is a good, heavy duty brush hog/mower that has a good sweet spot of price and performance?

Thank you!!!

There's a company down in Houston that's called Knox tractor. They sell a brand called titan for the best price around. I would consider them. There is also lots of brush hogs on CL that look to be in real good shape

Hi Rusty,

@rustyshakelford

Thank you so much. You are not in the Houston area are you?

Is Titan a good brand?

If you have any leads on CL let me know, I would be glad to look, and send you a gift card to thank you

We are west of you near navasota. I'll keep an eye out for sure and no gift card necessary

I spoke to Knox tractor, it seems like the Titan 6ft heavy duty brush hog, which is about 100HP and weighs 770lb for about $1500 and they have a lighter duty one which is 6ft weighs 726lb and 55HP for about $900

How does the pricing and specs on the heavier duty 6ft look - 100HP, 770lbs

I don't have any titan stuff. When I was shopping for an 8' they came up and started checking into them. Was impressed with their quality. Seems like an older style but plenty stout. I don't know about the prices but know they have the best prices around.

What the best fit for your tractor is is harder to answer. I'm not familiar with the models weight, Hp and 3pt capacity

I believe these are the specs of the tractor. It is a New Holland 3930

Drawbar (tested): 38.18 hp [28.5 kW]
PTO (tested): 52.54 hp [39.2 kW]
3 point hitch Rear lift: 3,080 lbs [1397 kg]
PTO Rear PTO: independent
Rear RPM: 540
Engine RPM: 540@1800
540@1755 (shuttle)

The turbocharged 3.1-liter engine was introduced in 1999.

Which brand/size did you go with Rusty?

Your 3930 will handle that 6' cutter easily. I run a 6' 472 Brown behind a 4610 SU. It specs similar to your 3930. The Brown is 1100#.

Thank you Turbys_1700

How much heavier and more HP can the New Holland 3930 turbo handle?

Can I use a larger cutter eg 7 ft or 8 ft

what number do I need to look for in the cutter as an indicator of size? HP? weight #

thank you!!!
