Dogs in Lowes Store

I have about quit shopping at the local Rural King because of all the misbehaved dogs that are in that place - male dogs marking things, etc. The last time I was in the store I couldn't find something but I did see two employees cleaning up dog poop. The place is such a mess it isn't worth it - literally gone to the dogs.

I love dogs and I don't mind seeing them in stores as long as them and their owners are well behaved. That is where the problem is most of the time..... the owners are not prepared or responsible enough to parade their dogs in a public place. It's really not the dogs fault.

That said, I spend at least 20 hours a day with my dog and bring him everywhere with me. However, since he is not very dog or people friendly, he stays in the truck while I run into the store. I will not take a chance on having something go wrong.

My wife and I decided couple years ago to get a "house dog". I've always had "outside dogs" living on the farm. Her parents had "inside dogs", chihuahuas and poodles. We knew the responsibility of keeping a pet indoors but decided to finally bite the bullet and get a dachshund. We knew exactly what we were getting. They are very aggressive, protective, and loving to a fault.

Last year we went to the beach and left "Merle" in the bathroom. He tore a hole in the door that was already in bad shape. Settled for paying 1/2 the door cost with the manager. Took "Merle" to see my mother-in-law last July 4th. Little scutter did the same thing. Another bathroom door. In addition when we took a pee break at a rest area he nipped a well wisher wanting to pet him even after my wife told him "Don't do that". He was on a leash.

The only time we take "Merle" out is to the groomer, to the vet, or over to my mom's house. He stays in the home and gets walked daily. He's a handful but we love him.

I have no problem with dogs in public places as long as the owner is responsible.

I have never noticed dog waste in the stores I visit but after reading some of the comments here...it sounds like either entering a store acts like a laxative for dogs OR many owners don't bother walking their pets outside before entering the stores...I understand about male dogs wanting "to mark" things...but indoors this is nothing but the sign of a dog that is not under the control of its master and does not belong inside public establishments...

I don't think animals belong in the stores. Leave your pets at home.

OMG. Now people will need service dogs because they're seeing to many service dogs. When will all this end? :confused2:

That is funny right there.:laughing::laughing:

I do not read the Disney forums much anymore but what has been posted over there, and from what I have seen, there are many people with comfort dogs that just make it up. I have seen people at Disney with "comfort" dogs that were obviously not trained at all. They just got a vest for the dog at a store and some do not even do that much. Having said that, I can only remember one or two that were barking at people and misbehaving. The dogs not the dog owner. :p:D:D:D

We have seen real comfort dogs at Disney. You can tell how the dog is behaving that it is working. It is not a Yorki shaking in a purse while being taken for a ride on an electric scooter.

Later,
Dan

Filthy Rural Kings must be the norm. Three years ago we were shopping for a coat there, we separated the coats on the rack and a nest of baby mice fell on the floor! :mouse: We left immediately and have never returned.
