How I stumbled into a Kubota BX in the first place.

I've only been a casual visitor to the Kubota forum, but even I know that three ain't anywhere close to catching up. That's more like the John Thomas starter kit.

The John Thomas starter kit! I love it!

Hey John, do you realize you are a legend in your own time?😜👍

Don't know how I missed this thread, but here's my story.

I pulled into the fuel island at Flying J on I75 just south of I71, and next to me sat a flatbed with a load of cute little tractors, each in it's metal crate and no wheels. I'd never seen anything like them and they were really cute. Couple of months later, I was at a Kubota dealer in Elizabethtown, Ky and they had one all set up out front with a loader and mower, I was hooked and knew I had to have one. In June of '01, the wife handed me a BX brochure and said go pick one out for your birthday. I went to my closest dealer, just across the street from the green dealer that didn't have anything close to the BX. I drove the BX around the lot and that clinched it. The next week when I got home, it was setting in the driveway just shining. $12,300 and it's never been back to the dealer for any anything.

We purchased a nearby 1/4 acre rental property in early 2016. Then purchased the adjoining 1/4 acre rental property in late 2016. 1/2 acre total (although they back-up to an undeveloped ~25 acres).

Both of the properties had "deferred maintenance" (were neglected) by the previous owners.

We had hurricane-force winds back in January 2017. It took down the fences and several trees at both of my rentals, and the fence at my house.

I was looking at installing ~600' of fence, a negative-grade issue routing water towards one of the houses, and wanting to Xeriscape (was thinking rock everywhere - potentially hundreds of tons of rock).

I went in search of the smallest tractor I could get with a post-hole digger. Glanced at the BX1870, but the salesman easily steered me toward the BX2370.

I was less than an hour into the BX2370 when I started thinking I really should have gotten the B2601 instead.

The trade-in value on a (~1hr) "used" BX is enough of a deterrent that I just stuck with it.

It has done everything I've needed, but I still wish I had the additional ground-clearance and bigger tires and FEL and 3pt (for grading) of the B2601.

How does the post hole digger do with your BX2370? Which model?

I'm all excited this morning. Waiting on delivery of my new Kubota BX 2380. Went ahead and got a loader with it also. Should be backing in my driveway any minute now.

I have the Land Pride PD10 with 9" auger.

It digs fine, but I still have to scoop a lot of dirt out of the hole once it's dug. I've been using an old kitchen pot from Goodwill, but I may try an Shop Vac or something.

Thanks for sharing... the specs too! My concern is my 'dirt' is glacial till... meaning I have about a much rock as soil! :confused2: Rocks are generally all cantaloupe size (a few) or smaller but it makes me wonder how effective the post hole digger will be for me.
