How I stumbled into a Kubota BX in the first place.

I stumbled onto my BX by a salesman that actually knew what I needed. I was looking for a lawnmower that would climb hills and hold up to some rougher ground. I was looking at some JD X mowers that were all wheel drive and they seemed pricey for just a mower. Then I stumbled into the Kubota dealer, described my land, and he knew just what I wanted. I also didn't buy a FEL but it wasn't long before I did. A lot of times I buy something and then find a forum, that's how I found TBN.

While I was growing up, I worked on other farms that was mostly dairy and one fruit/veggie stand so tractors were not new to me. I bought my BX on a wife guilt trip. Before I was looking for a tractor, I had a used box store riding mower and I had a problem with the motor smoking so I knew it was rings. I had to leave on a business trip so I told my wife NOT to touch it while I was gone. My brand new rotor tiller from sears after 2 years the transmission broke that same year from it hitting wild vines where I wanted the garden and I was going to rebuild it later that summer. Also I was getting frustrated mowing with chains on in the spring and fall where its too wet. I also had stumps to remove where I cleared the brush. Well -- I returned from Utah business trip and my wife says -- umm I tried to mow the lawn and it quit. I was like what?! I knew the timing was right for going new. The built up frustration and lack of time to fix things I decided to go get a JD tractor that was 4 wheel drive, brand new and a towable tiller. They wouldnt tell me the time of the day when I walked in and answer my questions honestly. They didnt want me to think about it with models they wanted me to buy and do more research and wanted me to buy that day. I just walked out. During my research of other brands I found the grasshopper and I liked the versatility of swapping implements from snowblower, mowing, etc. SO I headed to the closest dealer and it was a kubota dealer selling grasshoppers too. They didnt have the model I wanted to look at but he stood there and answered ALL my questions and asked me what I wanted to do. He showed me a BX floor model without the BH and I was sold. I really liked the dealer and I really liked the Heavy duty stuff on the BX compared to the box store mowers. When we were sitting down, the BX24 brochure was there and I was looking at that and asked for the price with tiller. I was impressed so I said I would return with my wife with a decision. He said sure and wrote everything up. The next day I showed up and had everything delivered within a week. I have used the BX in ways I have never imagined and I really love how dependable it is. I only had ONE problem with it and that was surging engine under a load last summer and I knew exactly what it was. I just replaced the filter underneath and I was back in business. I had this for over 7 years now and I am still amazed how tough and robust this machine is. This kubota BX has lead me to buy a 16ft trailer, welding machine. I have welded up a truck plow for the FEL, built a couple 3pt hitches, 3pt wood carrier and a skid plate. I used my BX to work on small and big projects for others.

There - I bought my BX on a wife guilt trip and she hasnt regretted it yet.... Its the best thing she ever did was blow up the motor on my box store riding mower.

That gives me and idea Radioman.............all I need to do is get my wife to be the one riding my old Husqvarna lawnmower when it dies , to get me the okay to get a new implement for the BX , (that fine cut flailmower)
So now where is that wrench to drain most of the oil in the Husqvarna, before I let her cut the lawn !!! :D

I got my wife to drinking, and made the suggestion at the right time.

I still haven't convinced her that I need a fire truck.

I found TBN nearly years ago. At that time I was in college and working at the property (camp) that my wife and I now own. At the college, they had a couple of RTV900's with Curtis cabs and snow plows that I always admired. It was in college that I got the "bug" for an RTV. Fast forward to January 2014. We were saving to buy a new RTV1140 for our camp and a used one popped up for sale at our local Kubota dealership. We bought the used RTV1140 in late January and have put about 65 hours on it so far this year - it is spectacular! This was our first diesel machine and first Kubota product. At that time we traded in a 2000 Mule 2510.

In our effort to update/consolidate equipment at camp, I started to research BX's since we were so impressed with Kubota quality. I thought that a BX would be a good replacement for a '99 JD 425 and '66 IH Cub Lo-Boy. We ended up trading those two tractors along with our '93 Gator 6x4 for a BX2370-1 with 60" mower, loader with quick-attach forks and bucket, and frame-mounted hydraulic snow blade. In six weeks, we've put 25 hours on the BX and it too is great. This is the first tractor at the camp with an FEL. The BX is also the first "new" piece of four-wheeled equipment my wife and I have bought. This tractor will be around for a while.

The RTV and BX have replaced four machines - amazing! Along with the larger Ford 3000 tractor and smaller Honda Recon ATV, we can tackle a wide range of tasks on 100-acres.

Don't have a BX story, although my FIL has one. I stumbled upon the L series myself, L3130, L5030, L3940. Look out JT, I'm catching up.

I've only been a casual visitor to the Kubota forum, but even I know that three ain't anywhere close to catching up. That's more like the John Thomas starter kit.

I have owned Kubotas since 1984. I bought a 4WD B 5200 in 1984 and sold it in 2007. I sold it for the same dollars that I paid for it, of course the dollar depreciated, but still. I went to find a replacement and I really liked the idea of a loader and a backhoe so I bought a BX24. Unfortunately, the BX 24 was much smaller than the old B so it couldn't do the same field cutting work, although it had a much higher rated HP. But the loader and backhoe combo did a lot of different work. So, my solution was simple. I bought an L 3700 with loader and huge bushhog and a little BX 1850 for the lawn and now the three tractors to take care of all my acreage.

Three is a charm... Sounds like a lucky guy.
