Small caliber target pistol?

I have a S&W M&P 22 pistol. That thing is deadly. I had a Browning BuckMark but just didn't like the feel of the gun, sold it to my brother and bought the S&W.

You need that silencer for target shooting?

I think the most fun I have had with any firearm was an M16 full auto lower, with a .22LR upper with a suppressor on it. Now that was fun!. A long line of guys at the range were loading mags as fast as they could to take a turn with it. Me included.

Nothing like the smell and sound of gun fire. As long as the gun fire is not pointed at you. My wife just shakes her head when I go outside and empty the magazine on my 9 just as fast as I can, sure is fun.

You've already got enough good advice here for a lifetime. But, here's mine: for accuracy, Ruger Mark xxx. They shoot like a rifle. For pure out fun, my Ruger 8 shot revolver which shoots .22 shorts too. I'd definitely suggest getting a revolver that can shoot shorts. Man those are fun! We're talking FUN here, practice, then more FUN to shoot, and cheap! For me, every time I pull trigger with some rounds, 9mm, etc., my wallet recoils.

Crazy question. Do you think suppressors are just for wannabe assassins, or something? A suppressor (the correct name) means you don't really need ear protection, so you can chat with your buddy or just listen to nature while you shoot. In many European countries where they don't have this irrational prejudice against suppressors, that's how almost everybody shoots.

It just makes it a more pleasant experience.

Ditto on suppressor use. I hate loud noises in my old age and I am considerate of my neighbors.

I officially ordered my pistol yesterday. I bought the suppressor ready Buck Mark Field version. It should be in within 10-12 days he says. I'm pretty excited to try it out!
He did say that if I didn't like the feel of it I couple return it before leaving the store, even though it's a special order. However, I honestly can't see me doing that. Even if I don't love the grips I can always change them out.

I also ordered an extra magazine and a few different boxes of ammo to try out.

I tried ordering an AAC Halcyon silencer but they are out of stock. I'm on the waitlist.

AAC Halcyon
I purchased the AAC Halcyon when they were first released back in June I think. Now just waiting for that dang Tax Stamp. Wondering if I will get it before Christmas!

I went subsonic on the .22LR, much quieter. I also use bird shot for squirrels and they are also quieter but will not feed in a semi-automatic. That is when I wish I had a revolver.

Yes. I used to shoot 22 CB caps in a rather long-barrelled bolt action. The sound was rather like the old Whamo Air Blaster. Kind of a sudden whoomp sound. No crack at all.

Many older .22 rifles from yesteryear have very long barrels. At least compared to some of today's carbines. Now as you may or may not know, the longer the barrel, the quieter the firearm will be when shot. These old rifles are pretty quiet with standard ammunition, especially one with actions that are closed. Like bolt, lever and pump actions. Semi-autos make more noise because of the moving bolt, and opening the action. If you shoot some of the very low power rounds like for example the Colibri, or Super Colibri rounds, in them they make no more sound than a pellet rifle, if that. BUT some cautions.

Some of these rounds can actually get stuck in the barrel of these rifles. Especially if the bore is pitted from years of neglect or just full of the normal debris. Be very carefull with these very low power rounds and make sure they are really coming out the end of the muzzle. If you leave a bullet in the barrel, and then shove a high powered round in after it, bad things can happen. Some of these low powered rounds are only made to be shot in short barreled pistols. Follow the instructions on the box. Keep the bore clean and slick, and pay attention. Oh, have fun too!
