Carry permit. Would traffic stop make police be more cautious? yea or nay?

It's too bad that being a Monday Morning Quarterback does not offer paying wages, cuz I'm hearing a lot of people on this thread that would definitely qualify. I'm hearing a lot of people whine about bad cops, and instead of doing something about it like joining the profession and trying it out themselves, all they do is complain and pass judgment. What about the old adage of walking a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge them?

So typical of people these days, and it's bringing down our society. Everyone wants to complain about Authority but no one wants to step up and do the job.

In my experience, there are 2 kinds of officers. 1 is the kind that really want to serve their communities and are the best of humanity. The others are the kind that got beat up or picked on in HS and want a badge and gun and have a Napoleon complex. They ruin it for the first group and are more of a detriment in many cases. And my dad was a cop and EMT when I was young.

And two kinds of posters in threads like this. :D

A license check that tells whether or not the owner has a concealed license doesn't tell anything about the driver, who may have just stolen the car.

The best thing anyone can do is follow LEO instruction and inform the officer they have a CWP and either have a weapon or not at the time being pulled over.

This is about right IMO..

Everyone wants to complain about Authority but no one wants to step up and do the job.

1 - I'm too old and my shoulder needs to be replaced sooner or later.
2 - Not enough money in it to do it legally for at least myself.

That said, I've always instructed my boys to RESPECT authority and in particular the police, but at the same to NEVER trust authority, and in particular the police.

My one boy still can't comprehend the fact that he has the right to remain silent, but rarely will he ever practice it.

So maybe we should increase the moral standards of LEOs and double their pay?

If your one boy isn't doing anything wrong what is the harm in him talking? ;)

That's a perfect example of the problems this country is facing today. You teach your boys never to trust Authority, and in particular the police. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy... If that's all you're looking for then that's what you will see every time you look at the police. What a depressing outlook on life.

I agree that it is completely out of line and disgusting when an officer abuses his or her power or committs an act that hurts the public's view of Authority. But the vast, vast majority of those in Law Enforcement are good, honest, caring people who put their lives on the line daily to serve and protect the public, even including people like we see on this thread who line up to b!tch about them... And those officers feel even more disgusted by the bad ones than you do.

If anybody needs our support in this era, it's the people who risk their safety and Security to protect the other 99% out there. Can't blame anyone for not wanting to be a cop anymore, nothing but critics and whiners who want to critique every little mistake that they make.

And again, anyone who thinks they can do the job better should go apply... Put their money where their mouth is.

There are a lot of bad cops out there. Probably more good ones though. What annoys me most is that the good ones don't put the bad ones in their place, get rid of them entirely, or send them to jail where many belong. The good are as bad as the worst in this system.

Police MUST be model citizens if they want respect.
