So to clarify, the motor loses rpms when attempting to load it? Using either hydraulic pump or transmission? Any other symptoms like lights on dash? Is it sudden or does it come on gradually after using for a while?

I understand multiple issues are frustrating especially for a new machine. This one stands out to me though because it's a recurring issue. The other problems they have fixed..... I think your best bet with the rep is to concentrate on the issues they cannot solve and negotiate from there.

Disappointed to hear that you are having the issues your are. You did your homework and I would've thought they'd have the bugs worked out by now. Mine had some early issues that caused quite a bit of angst as you can tell if you read my thread, but since they fixed those issues a couple years ago it's been pretty much flawless. I have around 700 hours in it and I'm not particularly gentle on equipment. Hopefully they get yours fixed up.

Yes. Loses RPMs.
Yes. Hydro transmission, loses power either using loader or transmission pedals.
Check engine light comes on.
Sudden.

If the MIL light is on it is a code set for emissions purposes and the engine is probably being de-rated. Nothing to do with hydraulics, your dealer needs to diagnose the emissions system.

Man, am I glad I bought a gear drive Tier III.

So it has nothing to do with hydraulics or transmission... Those are just the mechanisms you use to load the engine.

I think it's pulling rail pressure for some reason. You have updated fuel cap and updated firmware flash? When it happens, have you tried shutting off and restarting to see if power returns to normal?

It's not a hydro issue but I hear you on the tier 3. Electronics have been around a long time in the automotive world but it seems many tractor mechanics aren't up to speed yet on the new technology.

e5 may be on the right track. If he is you may want to check your air filter and fuel quality just to make sure you don't have an issue causing problems for the emission system. Maybe mixing in some Power Service or Howes might be in order.

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully the mechanic will be here tomorrow and I will show him what's going on. It didn't take long for it to happen today when I tried to do something with it. The hydraulic oil level is good. I checked air filter a while ago when I was having the same problem and it wasn't very dirty at all. But I cleaned it and have not done much with it after that. I have not done anything with the fuel yet. I'll have him check/change the fuel filter. The dealer did the 50 hour service on it when it got a little over 50 hours on it. I have put 200 hours on it since then.

Mechanic came and hooked up computer. Looked to see if it had latest firmware. It does. I explained how it has happened at different times and suddenly. He asked me to see if I could get it to act up. So it took me about 10-15 minutes of running it and it happened just like he said he had seen it happen on a couple other tractors. After it got up to temp and the temperature gage got to about half way or a little more. Bam. Almost complete loss of power and couldn't do anything after that. He said with one tractor he actually had to have them flash it from another place. (Maybe Texas) Apparently they have a slightly modified one because of this problem on "some" tractors. Not keeping it? Hmmm. So he asked me for a power source and said let me try re-installing or re-flashing it with the same, latest one. Maybe it will fix the problem. The computer had it done in about 10-12 minutes or so. So I needed to make sure it would do it again. Temp gage was still up there about half way. I ran it. Back and forth at 2500 rpms up and down the drive way like before. Cycled loader up and down, bucket up and down. Then ran backhoe through its paces. No problems. Did that fix it? Turned engine off and on several times like I did the first time we went through. Ran it back and forth again. Now I've been running it longer, a good bit longer than the first time. Several more minutes. Good power, smooth running. That may have done it. More back and forth. Bam! Spit. Choke. Hesitation. Loss of power. Engine check light back on. Couldn't do anything after that.

When he first hooked up computer he could see it was, I can't remember what he called it, but hitting or pinging that pressure relief valve (PRV). He said 29 times. I showed him the fuel cap. He had told me it was the updated one. And told him I was still seeing it collapse the tank. So I would not tighten it down. He said the under side of that is showing it is still collapsing the rubber. He'll replace with a new one.

They are coming back to get it within the hour.

I told him of all my troubles in a nice and polite way. He is the mechanic. Not his fault. I told him I do not have a problem with the dealership. This is a Mahindra problem and I want to talk to the representative ASAP. Way to much lost time on my projects. And now winter is setting in, snow will be here soon and ground will be freezing up. Soon will be out of time for the ground work.

I want some satisfaction from Mahindra.

He is calling him this afternoon.

How many DOCUMENTED repair attempts have been made for the issue of loss of power?

I ask because here (your state may be different) 3 failed repairs for the exact same problem, qualifies as a lemon.

Personally, I would have had an Attorney involved already (Yes it will cost you), however, I understand that not everyone is like me.

If this is the 4th attempt on this one issue, I would forget the rep and hire an attorney.
I would explain that you want out of this tractor.

Unfortunately it will cost you, but there is a saying.......cut your losses and move on.

Your other option would be to just trade in your current tractor on a new one. With no mention of all your problems.

Again, it will cost you.....

The problem with that is at first it would happen off and on. Then it became much more frequent.

So. This is the second time I have tried to get them to fix the loss of power issue. The first time was a few weeks ago when they had my tractor for nine days to fix the transmission problem. When they "tried" to fix it they said they could not get the tractor to do it. Or replicate the said problem. And brought it back to me with transmission fixed. It took me about 20 minutes of using it the very next time I could to replicate it.

As far as documented. I have complained to Mahindra corporate in Texas. They said that they only see two things that have been repaired under warranty. Two?! I said they have fixed my tractor at least six times. When they asked the dealer about all the said problems that I've had he apparently said that his person who inputs the warranty items has not put them in yet.

You are right. It's costing me. A huge investment for me. Decided to go with Mahindra because of closest dealer to me, dealer has good service, seven year warranty, put together everything I wanted and saved money compared to Kubota or Deere, etc.

Mahindra. Toughest Tractors On Earth.
