Since all manufacturers have to meet the same emissions standards, why is Tier IV an issue? Seems like a red herring.
No one is saying it is a problem, it's not a brand issue, it's a issue they are all working on trying to get the reliability with the type of uses seen with these size tractors. It is something you need to take into account if your wanting to purchase a tractor now though, because most repairs for these systems are dealer only and very costly.

Folks can run them any way they like, as long as they ensure that the regens happen as commanded by the tractor. Lug the engines and you're going to regen more often. On my NX there's two regen types, passive and forced(?). With about 230 hours I have only had one forced(?) regen (happened around 110 hours or so).

There really isn't anything all that complicated about most of the emissions stuff. Yes, there's extra stuff to go bad, but that's just the world we live in: I've got a cabbed model and I figure that the AC is likely going to, over the course of time, have more issues than the emissions stuff (yet, I accept the AC because it is obvious what it does for me; the emissions stuff people don't really understand the benefits, so they tend to view it as being negative- there's a built-in bias).

No one can predict the future. ANY equipment, no matter even if it's from the best manufacturer, can go bad in one way or another. AND, introduction of new models will always introduce issues, whether from a top-tier manufacturer or not. Most issues occur early on, and that's when the dealer matters the most. Seems that Kioti is noted to be a pretty decent manufacturer with regards to supporting dealers (per manufacturers' dealer survey [2016]).

I get it, I'd have said something similar.
Lots of car & truck reviews these days based on what cell phone gizmos they have, or not... and often the reviews are written after hardly any use, at all.
Also, I can say with tractors that one persons 100 hours is a far cry from anothers, based on particular use. A tractor that gets clutch abuse jerking logs is going through more punishment in spite of perhaps fewer hours vs. one that cruises large fields turning soil, over many acres. Sort of the similar argument for road vehicle with highway miles vs. a city miles beater with low miles.
Obviously teality tells us that sub-compacts will never be used for high hours tilling duty as unsuited by nature.
I had a neighbor in KS who farmed many acres and as a tightwad deluxe he used a steel wheeled tractor to plow. I forget the hours but it dated to before I was born and I'm a war baby born during WWII, 74 next month.
Back when I was building wrecks, I cringed over what some urban area/larger city cars looked like after not many miles-or those that were pet carriers or rug rat mobiles!

just following this post - lots of good info here, and the Kioti dealer is within an hour's drive. I have no idea what the Tier 4 reference is though... something about emissions I gather.

Tier 4 is the latest and supposedly the last step in emissions upgrades.

Emission Standards: USA: Nonroad Diesel Engines

Tier IV is final*, but it's by no means that last of the standards that will likely be coming along. For more info (it's Europe-centric, but figure it'll follow outside Europe as well): https://www.dieselnet.com/standards/eu/hd.php

* There are often interim steps, which are not "final," but when all pieces are there for meeting full-spec THEN it's declared "final" (locked down).

Good description, DB.

Even my '05 Kioti is listed as "interim Tier IV" and it is 12yo. MUCH cleaner exhaust vs. my older Kubotas and
Deeres. Glow-plug starts are needed, however, in even mild temps. I prefer the cleaner exhaust.

The concern is more one of implementation of Tier IV final: DPF and/or DEF. Most makers have implemented
good solutions that do not compromise utility greatly, from what I hear from owners.

That said, to the OP's Q: I would not buy the new version of my old CK30, the 3510. The soot-cooker (DPF)
on those new tractors has displaced the fuel tank, moving the tank to the rear of the tractor. This negatively
impacts backhoe mounting. This may be no problem for most buyers.

I traded in our 1994 Ford 5030 a few weeks ago and it had 436 hours on it. Im currently at 14 hours on this one... Ill never really know. The Ford was developing leaks due to age of rubber o-rings etc. But otherwise it was dependable. But time does its share of damage as we all know. It was just too large for me to use that much or to transport.

This one.. Ive had only one real issue right off the truck. Head Lights do not work and will blow the fuse when activated. Something I'm sure is simple short in assembly or faulty bad switch. Ive looked myself and verified its not anything in the front part of the harness. Ive made no fuss about it as I will just wait until 50 hour service to have the dealer address it. Ive brought it to his attention. But I told him we would wait and deal with then. I shopped dealers more than I did brands.

One problem with tier 4 is I don't have and probably never will have ulsd available, unless I want to charter a float plane to bring it in at 1$ a lb,
