How many miles on your vehicle before sell or trade?

None of the Gimmicks ever crapped out on my Dodges. But on the Gimmick Motors all kinds of trouble. At least none of the major engine troubles of a Friends Joke Stroke. Apparently some of those motors were basically garbage after 100K miles.

I'm glad my 08 GM 6.6 still starts and runs with 186 KMS . There is nothing out there that I would want to own. Just garbage, glitz and bling. Don't forget the mostly vinyl leather!

It seems the auto makers have no shame. But the buying public share a huge part of the blame. Buying this garbage. I just saw a picture of 20 or so teenagers sitting on a 76 Ford Torino or therabouts. If you did that to my 08 GMC "HD" there would be ten thousand in body damage!

My last 4 work trucks have been Ram trucks. I have been trading them for new at about 100 - 125k miles. I travel a lot for my business and cannot afford to be without my truck. I agree with someone who said earlier that the 'sweet spot' to trade is around 100k miles. I find that if I trade at that mileage, the truck still has good value and I avoid the extremely high payments of a new truck with no trade.

I've bought Ram trucks because they are usually about $7000 to $8000 less than a similar equipped Ford or Chevy.

I may break my tradition of trading at 100k with my current truck. It is my first 3500 and I had a custom built flatbed put on it. I really like it. Today it has about 52,000 miles and I've had it about 20 months.

When I buy a truck, I usually finance it for 4 years, and pay it off in 1 or 2 years. This gives me a little cushion in case business gets bad.

You are the guy I look for. You seem to think the truck is approaching large depreciation so you want to bail. I'm your Huckleberry. I bought my current truck with 108K miles for 30% of what a new one comparable would cost. Cha-Ching!!!! I'm still driving it at 250K miles. Just as reliable today as it was when I bought it. :D

I made a list today of the vehicles ive owned. 85 chevy s10 blazer was good.

A couple used ones i dont know the year, without rummaging thru the basement for old files.
The 3 used ones i bought were the worse. Had to rebuild engine on a ford tempo, then after my wife rolled the 93 accord in 99, bought a minivan, and transmission went out couple months later, and ac went out. And the f150 was one breakdown after another. My first honda was a 90 accord, traded it, too early for the 93 accord. Had 2000 civic, gave to a nephew when i got the 2005 pilot, which i still drive. 2001 dodge 1500 quad cab was nice, but had famous cracked dash, and ac went out too early. So have the 2008 chevy. 2500hd now. Already told about 2008 pos impala. Traded it for 2013 pilot. Picked up 2017 elantra for my son. Thats all the vehicles ive owned. Would love a nice 70s chevelle.

The cracked dash and ac problems aren't a problem on the 2nd gen dodges to take care of. I was Leary of the cracked dash also and the hvac problems but after owning a couple they are one of the easiest to repair and replace. I had a 1998 and the dash was cracked really bad and had a blend door on the hvac that wouldn't open. Got a new dash I think from geno's and one day fixed the blend door and replaced dash. Took me about 4 1/2 hours. I had a 1993 Chevy for 20 years and the dash cracked on it. So me and the boy went to several junk yards and I found a real good dash and was the right color. It took me and the boy about 6 hours to take the dash out of that junk truck and we were only careful with the dash its self. The rest we cut and broke just to get it out. I sold the truck a couple years later with the good dash in the back seat. I like the Chevys and thought that would be the only make of truck I would ever have but the last couple years I really like the old 2002 dodge I have now. Every thing is simple and easy to work on. Only thing that turns me off any truck is rust and they all do that.

2001 dodge was famous for cracked dashes, apparently no uv inhibitor in the plastic. Nearly every 2001 dash cracked. They made overlays to cover it.
The ac leaked under the dash, quoted over $1000 to fix, so i didnt.
I still liked the truck. still have the Bed cap in my barn, my BIL didnt want it when he bought the truck.
Anyone need a bed cap for 2001 dodge, 6.5ft bed?

My Sister in Law has a Durango 5.7 hemi 4wd bought new.

200,000 miles now and they take it everywhere... guessing it is 12 years old now and not a speck of rust or paint issues and the interior has no cracks...

I keep driving them until I no longer can get a door or window open to climb in and out. Odometer stops well before so I do not know how many miles. 4 door vehicles last longer than 2 door by a factor of 2. :D

You need to get something other than a Dodge! It will change your perspective.
Pretty funny, all car/truck companies make lemons at some point.
