LED Amber Strobes?

I bought a skid of used light bars at an auction recently. Didn't have a clue what I was getting. Some actually, have rotators, LEDs and Xnenon in one unit. Some toll highways here, still require service vehicles to have rotators.

I use this SWS (out of Niagara Falls Canada) LED strobe on my E-Gator. Label says up to 24 VDC but it's actually good up to 60 volts. I run it at 48.

It's their budget model (27006) , but I'm guessing is as bright as anything your going to find in this size and class. Still, not great in bright sun light. Uncomfortably bright at night. Five year warranty (pretty sure it's five), and single, double or triple flash.

I've recently added a amber strobe on my Kubota. I found the best place to mount it was under the top of the ROPS. It has a magnetic base with holes. I use short bungee cords wrapped over the top of the bar as a safety. Under the bar instead of over has proven to be much more protected from the branches and has stayed put so far. I also use it on the SxS, so the mag mount is a good solution for me.

To other Kubota Grand series HST owners... I found a great location for a 12v outlet. Left of the drivers seat, in the side of the housing that the gear selector and cruise control is in. I went all the way back about an inch from the factory storage box. My dealer did the install, and I think he tied into a wire that he said was for auxiliary lighting in the rear. I hope to be using that for rear lighting in the future.

About 2 years ago I bought an LED amber strobe unit from Rural King. Magnetic base, 12V cigarette lighter plug, etc. I stick it on top of the ROPS when I'm near the road moving snow. People fly down the road so this has definetly helped slow them down.

I was wondering if there are better units (I'm sure, it's only a cheapo Rural King unit ($50 i think)). Or something brighter? I need 360* coverage, as my LED flood lights are on at the same time. So I mount the amber lights above the flood lights, because I think the flood lights blind the drivers a bit and wash out the amber lights.

What has everyone else on here used?

Hi. Here is my input.
Whelen roof mount. Very bright, compact and versatile.
Surface-star strobes in the rear fenders where factory reflectors were housed.
It's in this video if you want to take a look.

Really nice Supertaster. Any second guessing of the front side strobes? It looks like when the loader arms are down, they are partially obstructed.

Thank you. Not really second guessing as much as maybe fulfilling my intent of adding in the surface star type lights on the side of the grill guard. I like the lights on the hood and the way they are positioned, they don't shine back in my face in the cab. That would be a piece of advice that I got lucky with. I suggest taping them in position first and see if they annoy your field of view or flash back on you. The E4's have their use but I don't think the light project is complete.
If I was to second guess anything it would be to not buy the E4 lights. They aren't nearly as visible as the Surface Stars. Sadly I had bad customer service from Strobes N More so I am looking for another supplier. Your experience with them may be different but unfortunately I'm no longer a customer.

I like the setup!

Any recommendations for where to buy? You said you're not thrilled with Strobes N More?

Amazon for the Whelen?

Thanks. I bought the Whelen locally. It's very bright and easy to use. Mine is magnetic but you can get them stud mount as well for a permanent install. It's a great purchase. Mine has amber lens. It also is available with a clear one. They have other "identical" models that are longer/wider if you would like a bigger one. This one does me fine. It has the cigarette plug with pattern switch built in. It was approx $329CAD.

To clarify, the SnM lights are great. I am very happy with them. The Surface Star model is A1 so far and in my opinion is the much better of the two lights I have. The E4 is a good light though and they sync with the Surface Stars seamlessly. If you get Surface Star, you have more flexible install options.

I also bought their own labeled switch with the pattern changing option as part of the panel. The on/off switch failed after a few (less than 10) cycles. I emailed them and had no reply. Months later I left a review for the switch and I got an email ( from the same address I originally contacted)from the company asking questions. He said I should have contacted them. (I did). By this time I got my own replacement switch and they wouldn't help me out with warranty of the switch as I threw it out and they wanted it back. (BTW I later found out you can order a 10pack of these switches on eBay for about $3 so paying $10 shipping to the USA for a warranty claim and weeks of delay was not happening anyway). He proceeded to try and turn the story against me and that they were the good guys even though throughout the email thread he didn't actually read/comprehend any of my original or subsequent replies. So in conclusion they never allowed my review of the switch to go live to the website. For such a small issue they lost a returning customer. They actually control positive and negative feedback.

Keep in mind I am in Canada , so I paid a 35+% exchange rate plus expensive shipping and taxes due to Canada I could buy something cheaper here or from China but I was sold on the product. I watched all of their YouTube videos and really like the lights. The switch is junk that is $18.99USD.

I wouldn't tell you not to buy the lights. They are good. Do not buy the switch.
But I would tell anyone that they have shady customer relations , they censor reviews to their advantage and for that I will never speak well of the company.
I haven't found an equal to the Surface Star for value. Whelen has a similar model but at a much higher cost.

I don't suppose you wanted all this info but now you know and can make your own choices as you like. If you want any other info on my setup, let me know. I will help out where I can and give other details on connections and mounting in words and pictures/video.
Once I iron out a few in-cab details, I am going to add to my lights and add a circuit panel.

Happy New Year.

My setup is from The Trailer Shoppe in Leola PA. They are all quite bright and after dark they light up houses and road signs. The front is done with four "Amber Fusion" LEDs'. They have several flash patterns so I set them each to a different rate to get a more random overall pattern.

The sides and rear are "4 LED Warning Strobe". They have 18 different patterns and I added a push button to change patterns (these are all synced, so the pattern choice is all rather than random like the front).

Here's what they look like:
