39.6 this morning high of 48 today 64 tomorrow. Rain moving in today maybe an inch maybe more, we sure do need it.

Cold next week but moderating nicely by end of next week till about the 25th or so then as the mild streak begins. Then another brutally cold time sets up so the cold is not done by any means. The coast will likely see more snow and interior New England as well.

Prayers sent for Riptides Buckeyefarmer and Toppop and all others silent requests

Good morning all, 42 this morning going to 53 with an 80% chance of showers and patchy fog. Today I finely get this tooth fixed. Still go to the dentist i have been going to for years, now 88 miles away and back in West Va. Looking forward to the views but not the fog. Yesterday was a lung capacity test, will have to wait for Dr visit to find out details. We knew lung capacity is down from hiatal hernia. Good amount of stomach is in lung cavity. Might take Mom with me if she feels up to it.

Drew, Had a job one summer working for Harrisonburg Parks and Rec. mowing grass. We had rear steer Toro mowers that were great. Like the canopy on yours. It is a shame you can't go out and mow some snow.

Randy, Feel better and go gt the tractor.

Prayers sent for all those not feeling well. Ed

Good happy Thursday everyone!

The January thaw is here with 42f and the sun isn't even up yet. Rain expected for the day and all you hear is the dripping of melting snow everywhere.

Not to worry though....it is going to be back to 15 as a high tomorrow and lows looking to be negative numbers again. I don't care what anyone (or facts) tell me, I am going to use the thaw this year to declare that winter is half over and spring is around the corner :)

Poured second cup of coffee. 48° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 53° with late afternoon rain. Snow is melting fast. Got furnace exhaust vent modified after clearing snow from roof. About the only project to do today is move Christmas decoration to barn.
They are starting to build a house across street from me. Brought in a backhoe and dozer to put in drive. At one time yesterday I looked out window and all I could see was workers head. Then they started back filling with 2" rock. So far they have put in 5 large trucks full. Because the property has 2 rolling rises on the way back to where house is going to be built. It will take a lot more excavating and fill. Fun to watch.
Nice fish picture RS.
Drew, I think you will like that front mower. Be sure to put a cup holder on it. So you can drink while cruising along in cruise control. Like the sun shade.
Prayers for those under the weather and recovering.
Good Morning All.

Ed hope your day and drive go easily and successfully. You care a lot about others and we care about you. And isn't that the way the world goes around...

It is a shame you can't go out and mow some snow.

this made me laugh, thanks. Let's see, rear discharge mower discharging directly under the drive wheels.
So high speed snow and slop constantly under the wheels. That might be a bit much for traction...

Got your tractor yet? :tractor:

(softly whimpering) Not yet. They last told me that hopefully before this weekend, if not it'll be early next week. So, I have gone cover to cover through the manual about 50 times now and soaking in as much as I can on this forum. :) .....and ordering stuff for my tractor. LOL

We don’t have a mud season, until now! Glad this mess is melting. Late as heck so gave a good day.

Good morning! 55˚ heading to 66˚. At noon the Norther blows in and temps will be dropping. Winds will be up to 27mph. Excellent day for a large grass fire if someone starts burning their brush pile this morning without looking forward at the windy conditions this afternoon.

Garage is cleaned out next is the tractor shed. Goodwill got a good load and Mom will get some "Stuff". I should have a trailer and a truck full of "Stuff" and of course there will be something that I will need next week but will be in the county dumpster.

Maybe a couple months ago i think for your BIL. Carlisle lawn tractor tire

Now I remember which one you're talking about. It was my cousin, and he got it fixed. It was an odd situation in which the replacement tires he first bought, showing to be the same size as the OEM tires, didn't fit. But the same dealer exchanged them for tires labelled with a different size, but fit perfectly.:confused3:

NWS says it got down to 51 early this morning, 52 now and heading for a high of 56 before 3 p.m., then falling temperature with a change of sleet and snow. I don't really expect it to happen, but I reckon it's possible.

You better go get some chains for the tires and put the back blade on so you can keep the driveway cleared. LOl :)

56°F and light drizzle this morning, going up to 61° and rain most of the day. Temps are supposed to plunge late this afternoon, turning it to freezing rain and eventually snow. Looking at low-to-mid-teens overnight.

Great-looking mower, Drew. Congrats.

38F and going to 46 with rain. Wind SSW 14 gusting to 21 mph. The weather guesser is talking about 3/4" of rain before it changes over to snow and then about 2" of snow for tomorrow.

Update on DIL, she is home and moving around quite well. O2 generator is real noisy even though it is sitting on a foam pad. I think the machine might be taking a powder out of here. Her decision.

Update on the Jeep; the oil pump came without a gasket in the box and no gasket to be found anywhere (not sold separately). I told them to order a new pump and MAKE SURE all the parts necessary were in the box. the pump should be here sometime today, but the hoist will be tied up with another job, so they wont get to it until tomorrow. I don't really need the Jeep that bad, so I will be a patient puppy and wait.

I do have a friend coming from Winnipeg on Saturday and IF it can be arranged I will meet him out on the highway and we will go for coffee. His truck is 85' long and bends in two places, but it is not what one would run on the small streets in South River. I don't run mine in town and I don't expect him to run his.

Have a good day all and take care in the changing weather conditions

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 6:30AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 56F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like we're in for a bit of a dry spell and a sunny weekend. Time to put the sprayer back on the side-by-side and go after all the weeds sprouting up where they shouldn't.

Some of my mechanic's favorite excuses are that the parts either didn't come or not all of them came or the wrong ones came, L4N. Happens when I order parts myself, too. Easy to understand, since unless you have the old part in your hand, you have no idea what the new part looks like, and as long as there's something in the box, it should be OK to ship it, right? :confused2: Except when the gasket should be in there, too, but you don't double check your catalog to see that and don't put the gasket in. Nobody double checks their work these days; they don't pay us enough to go to all that extra trouble...

Speaking of my mechanic, before the holiday he said he thought that the van would be running this week. Serial disappointer that he is, he didn't get the new transmission gear until this past Monday, so now it's at least another week before the transmission will even be ready for installation. He's not replying to my question about when the gear was ordered, so he'll get to talk to the bad cop when I drop by today to see what's going on.:censored:

More turn downs on the homeowner's insurance yesterday, and with pretty much all options exhausted, it's looking like a Nationwide subsidiary called Scottsdale will be my only option. They get lousy ratings on Yelp!, but seem to be financially solvent on A.M. Best and Moody's, but both give negative outlooks for their future. Probably because they're still selling policies to people like me. Hard to understand how they miss turing a profit, as my new premiums will be 230% more than my old one. One post I read recently suggested buying your own fire engine and keeping it in your garage. Since you live there, you meet the ISO standards for a fire station, and your Public Protection Class will improve to the point where you can purchase insurance again. Except the 24x7x365 part; I guess you'd have to start ordering your groceries in from Amazon. I also read that in 2014 the insurance companies purchased the formerly independent ISO ratings organization, and coincidentally that same year the ratings criteria became much less forgiving. Nothing like letting the fox watch the hen house.

Yesterday, I got the steering damper mechanism installed on the old motorcycle and it worked, so this morning I'll take it back apart, lubricate it, and find some better screws and nuts to put it back together with. I'm missing the parts that make the position detents work, but I'm hoping I can find a pair of ball bearings and springs at the old time hardware store in town that'll be close enough. Oh, and groceries, too; haven't had a nice green salad with dinner for a couple weeks now.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

35F presently and it is predicted to possibly reach near 50F today. Then the rains come finishing off with freezing/frozen precipitation Saturday........ And then the cold returns.

Buppies- I almost went with the Ambient personal weather station when I replaced the DavisPro station. I believe it is very similar to my Oregon. Good luck with your station. Do you have your PWS linked to WeatherUnderground?

The solar panels that we had installed mid December and immediately snowed upon finally lost its covering snow yesterday. It was a pretty interesting process from site layout, site prep, and construction. I can not dig a hole in my lower field without uncovering a substantial boulder; the crew that drilled the ten 7' auger moorings never hit anything. Construction/installation complete; the "challenges" with the electrical"inspector" began. Maybe next week we'll be hooked into the grid.

Ed- My + thoughts and prayers for you (and all others who are medically/physically challenged). Over 10 years ago I got really sick with a disabling auto-immune pulmonary disease. I was O2 dependent for quite a while. I would strap the ol' O2 tank to the rollbar of my tractor , and in Summer to the outboard on my sailboat. The auto-immune disorder(s) challenges remain, but I still alive and still relatively active. I am finally completely free from Prednisone. To stop living and moving is to start dying. The support that I received here from members past and present helped me through the challenges. Good luck with the lung capacity tests. Hang in there- Jay
