We also have a one-butt kitchen, according to the wife. We have a cooking arrangement. Our main meal is at noon and the wife cooks that one. Evening meal is at 5pm and is usually soup or sandwich by me. Works well.

More than a few marriages don't survive retirement... sad but I have seen it.

My current wife and I (both divorced) lead DivorceCare at our church, and one of the things it is saying now, is that Grey Divorce is on the rise. In fact it is the fastest growing case of divorce. Grey Divorce being marriages that are over 30 years old.

As for my first wife, well I knew she was good in bed because everyone in town was telling me she was!

Social I call it; she was VERY SOCIAL!

I have to laugh at it because it hurts to much to do otherwise.

I adore my current wife though and as hard as it was to get through the other two divorces, was worth it to get her. I am glad to hear others on here who have been through divorce have also found their ideal matches.

Another Public Service Announcement: Don't put off your medical tests.
Repeat: DON'T PUT OFF YOUR MEDICAL TESTS.

I had the card for the colonoscopy center sitting on my desk for years. But I constantly rescheduled. Everyone needed me all the time, I rarely took a vacation and when I did it was a disaster. When I finally went in for the test they found cancer and had I waited six months more I would have been dead. I'm doing ok with constant treatment but it would have been so much better had I taken care of things in a timely manner.

So don't let your job take over your life.

And if you are overdue for a checkup, don't close this thread until you call for an appointment. If its late, fine, call anyway and leave a message -- they will get back to you. But don't put it off another minute. We want to keep hearing from you here.

My sister died from colon cancer.

I finally had my first rotor rooter exam in December after postponing for seven years. Figured I would regret it and be cursing myself but I guess I came out okay. Wife finally said enough of me scheduling work/business trip conflicts. I do plan to make sure I keep up with my tests now before I retire in case I need a procedure and insurance could be an issue.

Good reminder.. or should I say.. Good wake up call. Uncle died of totally treatable colon issues he ignored.

Grandma would say the third time is the charm...

Does everyone defrost things from the freezer in the fridge? Energy wise it makes sense and a chicken is defrosted in 2 days as an example. I figure that saves me maybe two cents a year but more importantly makes me think about the next meal. We are on a 2 day cycle of cooking one day then leftovers the second day so it works out.

The reason we're supposed to defrost in the fridge is defrosting at room temp can get the temp of the item to warm and allow bugs to grow on it... food poisoning. Keeping it in the fridge is supposed to lessen greatly the chance of that happening.... that being said... We throw a chunk of meat from the freezer in the microwave (don't turn it on) and go to work. When we come home, it's usually still frozen in the middle. Never been sick yet, but doesn't make it a good idea. :)

Sister in law is a survivor... kept telling her Doc she didn't feel right... Doc said you are pregnant and it is "Normal" not to feel right.

Anyway... baby was born and she wanted answers and was dismissed... my brother had a friend out of Network and they scheduled a colonoscopy... the Doc said if he could do surgery today he would and scheduled her for 7 am the next morning... told her she would wake up with a colostomy bag at age 34...

Happy to report that was 9 years ago... chemo, radiation and no bag... her medical group got **** from the other Doc... but simply said a healthy, athletic, tall, woman of 34 with no family history didn't match the profile...

That said... any procedure has a degree of risk... and too often what you are scheduled for medically has a lot to do with the coverage you have...

We still have one old fashioned Doctor at the Hospital... he rents space for his practice here.... it is family business in that his wife, mother in law and daughter all work in the practice...

His policy is to NOT know what coverage a new patient has... simply logic is he does not want it to cloud or influence what he believes is medically necessary... not many like him left but there are also not many "Family" practices left either.

We mostly thaw in the fridge. If needed sooner, we thaw in the sink with cold water. As far as meals go...we get three days out of our main meal. Slow cookers are also a God send, no muss, no fuss.
