How To Buy A New Chevrolet Truck?

Bought my 2008 2500HD from local small dealer who had great prices. He got bought out by large multidealer, has lots of trucks, not sure if prices are as good as they used to be.

I used the build your own site for my 2011 HD, then contacted the internet sales manager at a dealership near me that was willing to deal as he was looking to add more GM lines

Just gave him my printout, locked a price & they ordered it.

My quick answer to OPs question is "you dont" Was a chevy man back in the 80s (hardcore). Had the Chevy hats, t shirts all that jazz. Owned an S10 blazer loaded, Monte Carlo and Barretta. Was screwed over so many times, had so many problems like my rear axle exploding I fought them in court only to reach a stalemate. I will never, never, never by a chevy product again as long as I live. I did not want the government to bail them out and Im still angry about that.
So for me, if someone offers me chevy for free my one and only reaction is to "run away".

I'm sure there are similar stories with the coin flipped. But that said, I was a chevy guy growing up with a 68 Camaro, a Chevy 1/2 ton pickup, and an S-10 before switching allegiance to Ford. Not that Ford is flawless, my overall satisfaction is better all things considered. Haven't bought either though since my 2006 F150 fully loaded bought new. Full disclosure, I am a BMW 7 series fan. Not for the faint of heart (I mean wallet).

Well, I have had my problems, but, to me, there is no alternative.
That is easily debated, which , I do not care to do,,

When I brought it home, the wife jumped in,, we rode down our rural paved road.
She said,,,
" The ride is so nice, I should have brought a pillow, I could fall asleep!! "

That said,, I purchased a 2018 Silverado Crew Cab,2500HD Alaskan,,,
GCWR of 21,000 pounds, a few more pounds, you will need a CDL to drive the thing,,,maybe??
(Would it need air brakes at over 26,000 pounds?? :confused2:)

My alternative was this white one,,,
I ended up paying 10% more than the price of the white one,,
and I got the Snow Plow Package, tires and wheels, spray in bed liner, crew versus double cab,,, AND,,,
THE Kodiak Alaskan decal!!
(My grandchildren really like the decal, they have spotted Pop Pop 3 times already! :dance1:)

What pi$$ed me wasn't the bailout, it was the govt taking GM over, and then selling GM at millions $$ in taxpayer losses.

The unfair used vehicle tax more than makes up for it.

I thought that all 2500 HD gassers came with the 4.10 rear end. My 07 Classic WT is configured that way.

Trucks are like tractors. Good used ones go for a mint. Bad used ones go for a small mint. My son just purchased a 4 door crew Chevy Silverado 4x4 with 60K miles in cherry condition. He paid a premium but was still 50% the cost of a new one.
My 08 gas has 3.73.

Has ~30k miles, ill take $50k for it, lol

I must add though that my buying experience last year with local Subaru dealer was utterly different. Nice honest people and great service.
But that's not a Chevrolet truck, and GM dealers are, from my experience, seriously old school and full of sharks and inexperienced just hires.

My experiences are similar. I'm sure a good part of it is that Suburu is a niche player, so they have to try harder at the dealer level. Don't make anything that appeals to me though.

I feel the same way about toyota. Had 2 of 'em, a mid-90s corrola (wife's) and an 07 turdra (company truck at my last job). Both were unpleasant, mediocre vehicles, and the dealers jerked us around constantly. Will never, ever even consider one of their products again.

GM's a little more complicated. I do like their vehicles, and have had good experiences with any that I've had over the years. Since I tend to keep vehicles 'til they turn to dust, at least I don't have to deal with dealers very often. Better to have a vehicle I like even if the dealer isn't that great than the other way around I guess.
