I figured I would add to this since I finally made something.

Small woodstove made out of a propane tank. Fired it up for the first time to burn the junk off before it goes into our tarped in work area. I still need to add some things like the door to cover the lower vent.

Some day I'll have a garage like some folks here.

Mike, looks like a welcome addition to your work area - I (sorta) feel your pain (other than nowhere NEAR as cold), most of my metal working stuff is still waiting for a "real" shop, I don't mix metal and wood work areas and the wood work stuff was there first

Ha, the tarped area you have is not that far off from what I have. Metal corrugated roof with a double layer of large pool winter covers over it all. In a couple sections are glass I have from old solar panels to give some natural light and a bit of plywood. My tractor, my son's 67 IH pickup and a bucket mount snowblower I'm working on is all shielded under there. Hopefully the stove will allow us to work out there with a bit of comfort.

I got a couple of gift certs at Lowes for Christmas so I decided to spend them before I forgot or lost them. I had read about the "Kobalt Quiet-Tech" oil-free double hot dog tank 2.4 CFM with double compressor being super quiet so I thought why not. I have a 25 year old Craftsman 36 gallon tank with 5.5?CFM that you need double hearing protection to work near it. I recently moved it to my boat shed addition (one insulated wall between my shop and it is still pretty loud. I also have a Puma oil reservoir type hot dog tank that is guessing about 2.5 CFM that I have been running in tandem with my Craftsman.
So the plan it to hook all three together and just not run the Craftsman but use it as a reservoir tank only unless I need lots of CFM. I lacked one male quick coupling to get it all together but I did get the Kobalt hooked up to my shop air. It is super quiet as advertised and pumps up rather fast. My 24" shop fan makes more than twice the noise. I think I am going to be pleased with it.

I worked on my fuel transfer tank. It’s a retired semi 50 gallon tank. It originally only had a 3/8 output. That wouldn’t be much flow. Now it’s got an 1-1/2” pipe thread. I’m hoping it’ll gravity flow through the filter, but I might have to take it out.

My 300 gallon bulk diesel tank is elevated 7’ above ground. My piping is all 3/4” thru ball valve then Golden Rod Filter to hose. Out flow is at least 5-6 gallons per minute all on gravity flow.

If it was in a permanent spot I could get it 7 feet off the ground. I was hoping I’d have decent flow into the CTL from the back of my truck which is about 2 feet drop. Plan b was to pick the tank up with the loader to get more elevation.

Perhaps a stack of pallets to raise your tank? 50 gallons of diesel weighs about 350 Ib. plus the weight of your tank, filter, hose, etc.

It’s about a foot lower than my truck tailgate. I’d planned on strapping the tank at the front of the bed and lifting it up some. ( dump truck ) The tank is about a foot high on its mount so I’d potentially have 4 feet elevation difference. If that doesn’t work I’d just lift the tank with the loader and it lifts about 12 feet high.

If the filter restricts flow too much I’ll take it out. When I don’t need fuel somewhere else I’ll set it in the barn loft and that’ll take care of the tractor and lawn mower. The backhoe I don’t currently own and the CTL will hold over half the tank so lifting it twice with the loader doesn’t seem like that big of a problem. I welded mounts for a clevis on the tank bands to make lifting with a chain pretty trouble free.

Get a Golden Rod filter and you won’t have flow restrictions.

I made a bushing to put an impeller on a smaller shaft motor. This is a monster 3phase dust collector conversion into a less monster single phase dust collector. We’ll see how that works out. At least the price was right.

Wi-Fi was already there. I will put a carpet on the floor tomorrow and order internet connected bike so she (and possibly also myself) could race with our children over Internet. Sweet. We are just cleaning out our unfinished basement and having a contractor come out and finish it. We will be left with a bedroom, bathroom, common area, and most importantly a gym. Can’t wait to have a nice place to work out. Hoping for mirrors on the walls and also a tv or two. We do lots of video work out programs such as P90X and I am hoping to have more then one tv so no matter the exercise it is still in view. sure have come down in price. Any pics of your new gym?

Love our home gym. As I've gotten older, though, I find the hardest thing about workouts is getting past the procrastination and actually staying with them!
