I ve been wanting a dual edge grader box for a while but didnt like the prices they sold for and most were super heavy. I wanted one to be able to bepicked up by dads JD750 or his 3000 Yanmar so I went with making one to cut a five foot swath. I uses 3 by 3 by 1/4 inch angle cut 5 feet long to make my 2 graders blade mounts. then took some 3/16 12 inch housetrailer I beam and made the sides. To make the front skids i just cut out a section of the Ibeam and fold ed the bottom ridge up. I left the back side open without a skid to let gravel out better. I had never used one before or even saw one in use much. A friend of mine has one he had made for his big JD I think it cuts a 15 foot wide swath for yard work. he also had a hydraulic tailgate made for it to so it can either be a grader or box to transport the soil like a box blade. Im pleased with the results for my blade I used it on my shops parking lot today. It mixes the gravel up quite well and in the clay road going to our field it was super nice shaving off the high spots. The front blade sits about 1/2 inch below the skids but rear one is levvel with them it just spreads the newly cut material. Brother was gone with his camera today so ill have to take some pictures of it tomorrow. Im gonna build another for the 4000 Ford at work that is 7 feet wide and the blades will be at another angle.
