It varies from place to place. Sometimes first offences are less.
Unless you drive on the road with a plated vehicle while during the stuff.
I think it is about a $10,000 fine.
To clarify a bit, this is referring to using dyed off highway fuel in a licensed highway vehicle on the highway and getting pulled over and having your fuel checked.
This is not for a tractor being driven down the road incidental to its primary use.
And yes dyed fuel is safe to use in a tier 4 off road applications.
Towns and City's can used non taxed fuel on the road. I bought a Mack ch613 tractor from a town it had red fuel took 3 or 4 fill ups to get rid of it
I’m a DOT truck inspector for NY, I have the dip sticks in my van, but haven’t found the need to use them yet. Any tank I’ve ever looked in that was thought of having dyed fuel did not.
