Diesel fuel question

Unless you drive on the road with a plated vehicle while during the stuff.

I think it is about a $10,000 fine.

To clarify a bit, this is referring to using dyed off highway fuel in a licensed highway vehicle on the highway and getting pulled over and having your fuel checked.
This is not for a tractor being driven down the road incidental to its primary use.
And yes dyed fuel is safe to use in a tier 4 off road applications.

Exactly.

Anyone have first hand knowledge of someone getting caught and fined for using red fuel on the hiway?? I don't mean a story heard at the round table of the coffee shop or feed store. I mean a valid trustworthy first hand knowledge incident??

There are checkers around here but I don't know of anyone that's was in violation. Friend of mine has OTR trucks and a construction business with hoes trenchers, etc. He's had his tank poked several times but he's always in compliance.

It's kinda like Big Foot. Lots of stories but never anything I'd wager the farm on. :)

The MA state police truck team checks the trucks at the produce center all the time because you can run off road fuel in the reefer trailers

I’m a DOT truck inspector for NY, I have the dip sticks in my van, but haven’t found the need to use them yet. Any tank I’ve ever looked in that was thought of having dyed fuel did not.

Can you elaborate on the penalties?
