Shuttle shift usage Kubota M7060

The shuttle is usually a wet clutch but the pedal is a dry clutch. Wet is more durable than dry. So if possible you are better off using the shuttle. Both accomplish the same thing but one is less wear on the machine. But not all shuttles have a neutral. Some really can only be set to forward or reverse with no real detent for neutral.

My understanding is on this machine there's only one clutch. Two methods to engage/disengage. It's a wet clutch.

The pedal method gives you "inching" ability. Useful when trying to position the tractor for attaching an implement, easing the FEL bucket up against an object, parking in a tight quarters machine shed, etc.

Hi y'all. I'm new here and learning to drive tractor for first time. My dad is old school (and a tad stubborn) so he is having a problem adjusting to our newly acquired M7060 kubota. He is used to the tractors from the 80's. My dad was using the shuttle shift and almost hit into the garage the other day because he said the breaks didn't work for him (he was a bit shaken by this). I'm thinking the tractor has to be in Neutral before depressing brakes on a shuttle shift? Or is something else not set right? From what I have read in the Operator's manual (which is very vague) it only says something about the torque in the axle being too high for braking. My dad had the tractor in 4WD at the time but I also noticed the same issue in 2WD. Before we ruin the transmission and whatever else can someone please explain how this works? Thanks so much for all answers/suggestions! Much appreciated.

If he's used to tractors from the 80's why is he not PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN (or pulling shuttle into Neutral) to stop! The power shuttle does not require clutch to change directionsor to pull away by moving lever in neutral.

An M7060 does NOT stop (nor do any wet clutch shuttle tractors) if you hold the brake down.

What dealer in NS did you buy from? You are in my end of the country :)

Is this true? Or is there just one clutch like Ovrszd says? I have an M7060 and always use the pedal clutch for stopping. Is there an advantage in terms of wear to using the hand lever? That will take some getting used to if so.

I researched the Kubota parts online source. I couldn't find anything that says the tractor has two clutches. I'm pretty confident that it's like my M9540, one set of clutch packs, hydraulically activated, with either the pedal or shuttle lever. Pedal gains you subtle control for "inching".

But I'll defer back to Fallon to educate us. :)

Kubota hydraulic shuttle has wet clutch. Have a M7040SU here, I prefer to use the foot pedal for starting moving in high range, especially road haulage, more direct pull away, less slippage. In low range I seldom use foot pedal to start, stop or change directions. Some nice being able to move and stack round bales, load manure spreader etc and never touch clutch pedal.

No dry clutch on Kubota Hydraulic shuttle. "multiple wet disk"

Kubota hydraulic shuttles also always have a neutral position.

Very helpful info because we don't have a creep gear. Thanks Richard :)
