being banned

It seems there are a number of folks who take internet forums (not just TBN) way too seriously. No idea why...maybe no life outside the forum(s)

As far as bans...I guess there have been some, but most folks out of TBN leave because of lack of interest....some, unfortunately, due to death or other tragic events.
As far as expunging one's history...why bother? As much as I enjoy TBN and it's members...it's just an internet forum.

I don't see anything wrong with being serious. I prefer it when people stick to the subject matter and the thread topic.

Of course, I don't see the fascination with this topic of "being band" or what is deleted or not deleted either. :confused3:

I'm missing something. Is there a concern you have that we're not seeing ? :confused3:

I was thinking the same thing.. what an odd concern. Wondering if OP would also go into Costco and insist on watching them remove him from the member list.

Just don't go back, just don't post any longer.. captive isn't the right word; you are not captive!

Costo doesn't make money off me just for being a member, except for the dues. I quit , no dues.

The question is purely academic. Should a person have the right to disassociate from an organization if he chooses?

Suppose you belong to a very nice gun discussion group and suddenly a group wants to start a how to start a revolution forum. For whatever reason you feel that the site is now on shaky ground and you want to be clear of it. why shouldn't you have that right?

Please don't argue the example, argue the principle.

I now pronounce you officially banned for life!

Dear kidr: It appears you "have an axe to grind" What is that axe? We would really like to understand, but we don't. What is it? There has to be more to this! I can't understand why you would make these posts, unless something was bothering you. What is bothering you? Maybe we can help if we only understood. :confused3:

FWIW...in reality...there is very little in the way of case law regarding Internet 'Terms of Service' of 'User Agreements'...most are standard and itemized legalese boilerplate that when in courts is looked at as the same as conventional law (i.e. Internet does not make a difference)
Generally when there is no absolute means of requiring a user to actually read an agreement (just clicking a box that say you did is often found not defensible in court) actual acceptance can be and has been successfully contended.
However when sites forcefully require agreements to be browsed (downloading the text to a users browser is the same as the user reading it as far as the law goes) they are mostly enforced...

The solution to this non-problem is to stop replying to kiddies posts. Then it will end. A version of "halt and catch fire". All in?
