What is this on a F3080?

The plastic one should be a servicable element filter... meaning, you can unscrew it and simply replace the element inside (cheaper).

The two plastic filters are disposable/replace filters and pretty sure they are the same. Not positive that one filters different micron levels but don't think so. I think the Kubota parts guy will give you two plastic filters with the same part number if you go to the dealer and buy replacement filters for the F3080. Almost positive they are not the come apart inserts like on my L Kubota tractor.
What you have is what came stock and has had no changes from original Kubota production. I first thought the metal one was/is a fuel pump but if it has no wires then it isn't a fuel pump so must be a unlisted for replacement filter. I'll check my current F3080 and see if it has that metal one. I've replaced the two plastic ones a few times on my current F3080 because I left my fuel cap lid on top of the mower after filling with fuel and then ran over it which cost $25 to replace. I guess I got some dust in the fuel and it keeps settling at the neck of the fuel tank and I have to or have been attaching a shop vac to the line in front of the first filter and sucking which clears it for awhile and runs correctly. It starts dying on me going down hill until I do the shop sucking routine. I just mowed a lot that I sold a few days ago with the F and it was doing the dying down hill routine so I'll be sucking the line with vac in a few days and check for this metal filter.

I had no doubt it was stock. I should of wrote "I doubt it's aftermarket or a west virginia add on" (or in your case, a Kentucky add on:D). Could of swore I saw no wires which made be believe it was another filter of some sort. I just don't see mentioning it anywhere in the manual.

John, have to ask, what issues are you having on the hill? Only reason why I ask is I believe I'm starting to notice a decrease in power when mowing up a pretty nice sloped hill with the blades going. I'm hoping replacing these filters will help that, or I may have another thread going LOL (I won't lie, I forgot to replace them last year).

When I go down hill and let off the go pedal it almost dies. If I keep pushing the pedal and don't let off which makes it pick up speed then it doesn't do it. I really believe there is something in my fuel tank and when going down hill lets it move to the tank outlet hole and then letting off maybe reduces force and lets it block the fuel tank outlet. I have rarely ever replaced fuel filters on any of my Kubotas, never needed to. I have on my current F3080 because of this issue. Replaced both plastic filters and sure both of them were the same. I can suck with shop vac line before first filter and it runs fine for quite awhile or even blow into the line with shop vac and it runs fine for awhile so that's why I believe it's in my fuel tank and collecting at the tank outlet. Running without my tank lid also makes me believe I let dust get into my tank and that's my problem. in my mind. After sitting for a few months without running it it started almost instantly and I moved it around the side of the house and as soon as I started down the hill in front of my house it almost died. I just stop and sit while it recovers and starts running correctly again and it did it a few times when I crossed the road and started mowing the lot when I'd go down hill and let off the foot pedal but no issue on level or going up hill, none.
Have you checked and cleaned your air filters?

The air filter element along with the radiator screen get cleaned up after every 1 hour or more mowing session (regularly).

What I'm noticing is a lack of power going up hill only after the blades are engaged and actually mowing. Level ground or going downhill, not a problem at all. I understand the height of the grass plays into effect, but it just seems to be slowing down going up the steeper hills.

I had something similar happen to my Toro Groundsmaster. The problem had me replacing fuel filters and the water separator... only to find out it was a mud dobber's nest in the vent line. You might want to check that.

I unhooked the vent line from the valve on the tank and tried to blow through it. When I couldn't, I took the line off and beat it against a rock. I didn't think I'd ever get all of it out. I then flushed the line with diesel.

Do you run full throttle?

Thanks. I'll check that.

Full throttle in "turtle" gear only when mowing. The only time I ever use "rabbit" speed is when I'm on the rural road going to another entry point down back and I want to get there quicker LOL. Even in full throttle in "turtle" or "rabbit" gear, the mower doesn't lose anything going up hills (be it on the grass or the road).

I checked for the metal "filter" between the two plastic filters and I also have all three. No wire going to my metal "filter".
You may have some diluted fuel or thick grass making it seem like it's "dropping" some when your mowing but not in moving about.
I use the Wal Mart silver bottle Power Service, when I remember to add it. Used to use the white but Ky doesn't normally get cold enough to need the extra due to cold. It has a cetane boost which may make up for your seeming drop down. It's not expensive and can't imagine it hurting anything. A little dab or few drops ull do you.

On my ZD mowers I had 2 inline plastic filters with the electric lift pump in between. That metal object is exactly the same size and shape as my lift pump. Is it possible that broken off wires are being overlooked? That would also explain loss of power issues.
Not trying to ruffle anybody's feathers, but they appear identical to other small kubota diesel setups like the BX tractors, ZD mowers.
