Can my tractor haul a large rotary cutter?

/ Can my tractor haul a large rotary cutter? #31
Hey yall , looking for some wisdoms from the more experienced.

I own a kubota l39 TLB, 30.5 PTO HP. I am trying to find a bush hog that can cut thick brush. Probably 1.5? no bigger than 2?
I have found some medium duty bush hogs that meet all my needs but state a min PTO HP of 30.

Can I haul these? Can I turn them? I prefer to be conservative and definitely dont want to damage my tractor.
Any advise?

Thanks

You'll be fine as far as HP goes. If you find the machine is bogging then slow down. You won't hurt anything.

I find that brambles and wildflowers cut pretty easy. Thick, wet grass, and saplings take more power. Your machine is hydro, so just let off the pedal if the rpms start dropping and you'll be good to go.

Your machine will lift a couple thousand pounds - you'll be fine as far as rear lift capacity also.

5 foot vs 6 foot would depend on what you are trying to cut. 6 foot will be quicker in fields but harder to maneuver in the woods.

J Bar Implements made in Trion GA, direct economical sales to end user. Have a look at their website as you make a decision.. Agree 5 or 6 ft will function with prudence. Have used 6 ft on 22 hp ford in one inch brush, moving slowly, no issues. J bar offers a four blade rotary option, more efficient, better result, minimum windrow, takes less hp to operate. Yes, windrowing w/ 2 swinging blades = unappealing result.

As far as a longer top link, Agri Supply in your neighborhood, offers very inexpensive solution. Hardly woth any concern.

My only concern is the cutting capacity with both the JBar and the Agri Supply. Both have a medium duty option but dont list any cutting capacity in their specs.
It makes me nervous when companys dont list that.
I want to see it in writing, not just word of mouth.

What do you mean by hydro jb1390?

Hydrostatic transmission. If you are running with a gear tractor, and you hit thick brush that overloads the machine, you have to hit the clutch or stall. With hydro, it's easy to slow down for a moment then speed up after you've made it through a tough patch.

Major brand manufacturers do a better job of listing specifications and ratings. Their parts are more readily available, and in most cases are available for longer timeframes.

My L39 TLB is a Glide Transmission. Will that adversely effect something?

No. GST is a great transmission.

Agreed, my Kubota had the glide shift and if I came to a spot that was thicker and needed to slow down, I just dropped it a gear or two if need be then bumped it back up when I got through that spot.

You just might have to shift to a slower gear.
