That's how I roll. I ordered two 8.5 inch long 5/8 316 stainless bolts, washers, and lock nuts for them just now. Plus a 6x36 inch strip of 1/6" adhesive backed rubber for the Heavy Hitch weight bar so the paint doesn't get scratched.

That Heavyhitch looks pretty slick. A simple but sturdy design. I have a trailer mover that I use quite a bit, but a hitch like this would be much more versatile. It would be easier to use than my 55 gallon barrel ballast.

Won't it require loading/unloading the weights if you want to remove it from the tractor?

Well, once again I missed the boat. I did email MB Tractor yesterday and they had a ballast box for $269. I went there today to buy it. I like it, and I値l live with it. I don稚 have a quick hitch, nor do I think I値l need one (I know, famous last words). I have a rear snow blower and post hole digger, now the ballast box. Two or three changes a year溶o big deal. Now, should I use concrete or just put portable material like rocks oil sand. One thing I was thinking of was to use concrete because I may back into a tree, don稚 want to cave it in. What do you think?

And while I was out, I stopped to get the oil changed and bought a set of new tires for the Tacoma. Good day overall.

The cost has spiraled out of control vs a simple ballast box, 5 times the cost but I'm too far in to turn back now.

Inbound Heavy Hitch cart for hitch and suitcase weights.

Inbound Land Pride QH10 quick attach hitch, in Kubota Orange. NOTE no sleeves required the lower hooks are for CAT 1 7/8 inch pins. Also this quick hitch handles 2,000 lbs vs 680 lbs for the QH05 below.

Here you see how the cart inserts into the hitch receiver then you lower the hitch with the weights and cart to the floor, roll it away.

The much cheaper Land Pride QH05 will NOT work, the Kubota suitcase weights extend forward several inches from the weight bar and the rounded frame of the QH05 is in the way.

If you ever need to move obviously you would want to empty the ballast box. Or to store it up on a shelf out of the way when not needed, or modify it with hooks, hitch, tool holders etc. You might consider just using sand or bricks at first.

You guys are trouble. My ballast box is going up for sale tonight, and the Heavy Hitch ordered this weekend. I planned on getting the QH10 anyway for an RB1560 in the near future. I'd use the RB for ballast only, but it's just too far back there for maneuvering when not using, and Ill store it inside where it's not 100% immediately accessible. Now, to figure if I should empty the Kubota ballast box or leave it full...
