If your roads good and if you don't need AWD or a SUV I'd be temped to go with the Elantra. But the Forester is good on slippery roads, might want to check out the safety numbers.
I like awd, dont absolutely need it. I have another pilot and a truck, but i like driving an suv. Bought my son an elantra, its fun, but small. The hyundai guy never got back with a price on the tucson. 2 different subaru dealers have been great about getting back with me.

Oh com'on, Buckeye, just go get what you want and fergit about the price. You're gonna have to live with the thing almost forever, and the last thing you want is to be kickin' yerself in the butt every time you drive it 'cause you didn't get the features you really wanted. DAMHIKT! That said, don't fergit to look into reliability ratings because it would be a lot nicer if it spent more time with you than the dealer.:confused2:
I was thinking that today. I keep my vehicles long. One of the reasons i decided against the crosstrek, only 1 mpg better than forester, lot less room. 2k difference.
I expect this vehicle will make a few trips to arkansas to haul college stuff, so more room is better.

The instant Pot Galumkis turned out great. Left overs already in the freezer for another meal as are the remnants that didn’t make it into the pot, so st least 3 meals from this adventure.

Theresa also made the Pina Colada rice pudding. It too was awesome even though she used regular white rice instead of the over priced Arborio - wife said it was $8 for a small jar.
No idea what will be next.

Holubki! We give my mother-in-law our cabbage, and she prepares and freezes them for us. Here, a regular pot on the gas stove works well enough to heat them up. :)

I didn't mean to leave you out, Eric, but I couldn't think of any traditional English recipes that didn't involve boiling the life out of everything.

No boiling recipes ? Then you'll miss out one of my grandma's specialities - sheep's brains.

Wish I'd missed that too

Quite a change this morning, thermometer was indicating a whole degree above freezing. Could it be true ? One sure way to find out, tip over a weather bucket

Thaw confirmed

Drew. Might install a lightning arrestor. I have one. Still in box. Zareba Lightning Arrestor Kit at Tractor Supply Co.

Perfect and cheap! Thanks, didn't know they made one. I have a 15 mile charger going maybe half a mile so even if insertion loss should all work fine. Will look for it today as I'm headed to TSC.

35 degrees out, headed up to mid 50's. 15 to 28 feet waves offshore. Subsiding to 12-15 feet today.
I've done 12 footers in a Bertram and had my wife's eyes wide open, sure wouldn't go out in that stuff.

A bit sore this morning, 8 hours of work outside yesterday. Today I'm cooling it.
Made a salmon and chicken alfredo dish last night, now that was yummy.
When you live alone always makes sense to have plenty of Tupperware handy.
I love leftovers, soups and chilis always taste better the second time anyway.

Poured first cup of coffee. 21° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 42° with mostly sunny skies. Over 40 post to read this morning.
Big words, need to look them up.
IP, stored on back of a shelf.
Roomba, ours does not give me iPhone messages. May have to upgrade.
Generators, sure was nice when power went out and whole house generator started up. Got a 12KW. Runs everything including AC. We only have a 2 ton AC.
Cookbooks, not a good cook. But I am leaning how to use the Pellet Smoker.
Subaru's, no complaints how our Chevy's rides and handles.
Tripping over buckets. Be careful Eric.:D
Don't forget leftovers. I married the Leftover Queen. Some days I get to choose which leftover I want.
Need to clean up the tools used on caulk project yesterday. I have no idea why it took so long to complete or why I needed so many tools. Clean neighbors circle drive so he can get in when he gets home this afternoon. Then some NASCAR in afternoon.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Leftovers, leftovers, what are these leftovers you speak of?
We stopped having leftovers when the youngest started eating off the table good. Still ain’t figured out where the 23 pound 19 month old puts it.
Wife never was a big fan of leftovers. I was raised on them. She was raised on fast food and a much faster paced life than me. I still haven’t sped up enough for her.

I’m with Foxworthy when he said “People hear me talk and automatically want to deduct 100 IQ points.” Although never judge a book by its cover. My wife reminds me that, I’m not as dumb as I sound(accent) or want most people to think. I just smile. But some of you guys need a syllable limit.

Lol, well said hillbilly cuz! Like my grandpa said, “Ain’t no need write the dictionary when the comic strip will do!

KIA Sportage is their version of Tucson same internals.

37 now going to 50, wind is 8-13 now but will gust to 20’s later. Normal highs here now are low 50s but all week is predicted in the 40s.
Prayers for you guys, can’t afford to lose my daily entertainment.

I've got some "work" work to do in preparation of a trip down to CT tomorrow. After that, just putter about...

Good morning all, 27 this morning going to 51 and sunny. Wow, took a while to catch up this morning. Need to run to the drug store for some pills and some vit. C fizzy drinks. Other than that take it as easy as I can.

Buckeye, We loved our 2013 legacy but the way it dumped oil it had to go. Be fine for a long time and then the oil light would come on and I just checked it 100 mi ago. Hope they have that fixed.

Drew, I am wordy like you, I just don't type well.

Have a great day all, prayers sent to those in need. Ed

8 and going to a high of 27, sunny. Wind N 9 mph.

I have all the parts I need for the new fuel line from the HHO tank to fuel the tractor. Now I just need to wait for warmer weather. Arthritis in my hands forbids me working them in cold weather, even with MM.
I have a small solar panel that I will use to trickle charge the battery from my old riding mower that quit two years ago and that will power the 12 volt pump.
The only thing I am at odds with is whether to use Teflon tape or old fashioned pipe dope in stick form on the threads of the hose and delivery nozzle.

Well, have a safe day all

I bet the sheep don't think much about it either.:D

Someone was looking at a generator, jut a note, people just north of us hope Dominion Power gets them back on line sometime today from the wind thursday night and friday. Ed

I bet the sheep don't think much about it either.:D

Are you inferring that the sheep don't like the idea or that they "don't think" much about it either because they've already lost their brains or all of the above?
If so, that would be a double pun which I don't "think" are allowed here on TBN.:D

34F clouds rolling in upper 38's for high.

Well after using bucket on the tractor to back drag the mess I made  its time to wait until the ground firm again.
One week from today clock spring forward :dance1: another sign of spring on the way.
Plans for today...putter and more puttering maybe watch last hour so of nascar.

Enjoy the day all.

Well, we are back in civilization...power came back yesterday afternoon...seemed like forever, but only off 26 hours. Most of our electric coop customers lost power, and some are still without power...haven't seen the news, so don't know if our governor has ended the state of emergency. Still very windy, but only up to 25mph now. Many dead branches have been pruned by mother nature, but 4 big pines have blown over my path in the woods, so tractor, grapple and chainsaw will get some exercise this week.

Randy, I bought my generator in January 2016 before the predicted massive snowstorm...but we never lost electrity...so had only used it to run the 5 hour break-in period and change the oil. Glad I had it for this outage so we didn't have to throw away a lot of freezer/fridge food that had warmed like in past years.

I got the dual fuel model at Costco, and have only run it on LPG...started up in a couple of seconds, although I hadn't kept up with the battery, it still had plenty of juice. I ran it for about 8 hours during this outage, and used a little more than one LP tank of fuel...took that to TSC to refill yesterday ($9.88) and had to wait in line...like I said, lots of folks lost power.

Here are my notes on my tiny experience the last couple of days...
- had to make a makeshift ramp and move generator into position from the shed where kept now - not real hard, but took a little while
- running on LPG is best for clean reliability and fuel storage - I keep 6 LP tanks (also use them for the grill and turkey fryer).
- I had to run the main generator cord through the window and then extension cords from the outlet box through the house to the refrigerators and one hanging workshop light
- I had to move the microwave to the room where the main generator cord came through the window so I wouldn't have to run it on an extension cord.
- I have a oscillating fan on a stand that can move the woodstove heat to other wings of the house, but it was still cold - 48 in our bedroom yesterday morning (can't get woodstove heat back there) but I like sleeping in cold rooms
- we have a well, so we still didn't have water (except rainwater I had collected in barrels that I could bucket carry to the toilets, but I had to break thin ice to get to it). We also had bottled water to drink, brush teeth, and to boil on the woodstove in the kettles for coffee or tea.
- we don't lose power often enough for a whole house generator
- I do need to get a transfer box installed so I can run the well pump and a couple of kitchen circuits and maybe one to the master bedroom for a space heater in case it is really cold or a fan if power is lost in the summer.
- power outages are like camping - we played cards and read under the one 100 watt equivalent LED bulb we were using near the woodstove...sort of an adventure
- if it had been really cold, snowing or raining the whole time, things would have been much worse and I would have been dreaming of a whole house auto unit. :)

BEF - my son loves his Forester - great room, mpgs, drives nice and heated seats/leather...no turbo but still peppy. My Tundra is my first vehicle with heated seats...I use them year round...makes my back feel so much better.

No robots doing the vacuuming here, and no IPs, but we talk about it. Glad to hear the roombas are working well...may have to check in tuit.

Temp got down below freezing again this morning, but the wind had already dried the ground a good bit, so mowing and tractor seat time this week.
