Ford 6.2 VS GM 6.0

Dual injection. Usually a gas engine. When they went to direct injection they found the valves were gunking up. Indirect injection engines didn't have this problem, apparently the fuel mixture flowing past the valves helped keep them clean. So dual injection does both, indirect injection (often called multiport injection) and direct injection.

I have a 2017 Ford with a 5.0 and it is NOT direct injection. I know in 2018
they switched to dual injection.

A lot of DI intake valve problems are the result of puttering around driving and using oil that is not low ash.

Even if we had E85 locally, I would not use it. The cost of gas went UP when E5 was mandated when it was supposed to go down.

Get the corn out of gas and mpg痴 will go back up, corn is for food, shine, and heating with (corn stove), not to water down gas.

Actually, that ethanol is a high-performance fuel. Lots of hotrodders are building E-85-only turbo engines that make huge power. You do burn quite a bit more of it (I probably filled my flex-fueled Dodge with E85 only a dozen times) but if you wanted to make a thousand horsepower, it's much cheaper than racing gas, and has cooling qualities as well.

The inline 4 “Duramax” used in the Canyon are a VM Motori/Fiat/Chrysler built under license in Thailand . The V6 “ Duramax is also a Fiat/Chrysler/VM Motori . There are reports that production of the V6 for GM will be in Michigan .

What is dual injection ?

Two injectors per cylinder - 1 port and 1 Direct injection. The issue with direct injection is carbon build up on the intake valves, adding Port remedies this. Toyota has run it on certain Engines for a few years, and Ford went Dual injection for 2018.

The new 1500 gets an in-line 6 Dmax, wondering if it’s based off the Isuzu design, or VM Motori (which GM still has a stake in)?

If I go diesel, it will be an I-6 Cummins.

Port injection and direct injection. The new Ford v6’s and v8’s have this. If it is just direct injection, there is carbon build up on the valves after a while. Dual injection stops this.

Walked past an unattended idling pickup truck yesterday in the quirky mart parking lot. Sure enough somebody was all proud of their Canyon Duramax diesel that is a copy of an Italian Diesel.
It is from VM Motori, which GM used to own. So you would rather have an Isuzu Duramax?

This motor is widely used.

Applications:
2010?012 Jeep Cherokee (power: 200 PS (147 kW); torque: Manual transmission: 302 lbï½·ft or 410 Nï½·m automatic transmission: 339 lbï½·ft or 460 Nï½·m))

Very true that the I4 Dmax in the small pickups is a VM design. But GM sold off its interest in VM some time ago. when they did, they brought one of the chief engineers ( Nicola Menarini ) with them and they still had product rights to the I4 2.8 that was developed when they had a share of VM. Why reinvent the wheel. The I4 2.8 VM is a very good platform. Just make a few cosmetic changes, add on the emissions junk, and call it your own.

I have no idea who is behind the I6 Dmax.

I have personal reasons why I am loathe to ever have a Cummins in any vehicle I own. I dearly loved the Cummins N-14, but I got burned real bad on two Cummins ISX engines. After that experience, I have totally rejected the idea of a Cummins being in anything I own again. Might be missing out of something, but not noticed it yet.

I have similar reasons for not supporting GM anymore - lets just say I never should of traded a rock solid 04 Sierra (trouble free 217,000 miles) for an 11 Sierra. Lack of support on warranty issue, and an overall POS sent me looking elsewhere. I did test drive a new GM, F150 and bought a Ram. If I ever had to go diesel it would be a Ram, but the thought of paying out of pocket to fix emissions issues gives me nightmares. I refuse to delete any vehicle due to being illegal, and would have to be returned to stock to trade.

Who knows, maybe they are getting the bugs worked out? Until then, I am happy with the Hemi.
