Are our grandkids getting too sissified?

I'm 57 and we were warned of it when I was a kid. There were, are, and always will be, pedophiles preying on young people.

Wow! And I thought you were an old fart. I have a daughter who will be 54 this year.

My dad was born in 1919. ;)

Curious as to the story with how you came to be LOL. If you're 57, I'm not far behind you, and my dad was born in 1932. That said, my father didn't have me until he was in his 30's. You seem to be a little more "odder" than I am which is why I ask.

I'm blessed, my dad drove 8 hours and is spending a couple of weeks with me now.

My grandpa (born 1888) was 8 years older than his wife, and was 31 when my dad was born.
My dad (born 1919) was 8 years older than my mom, and was 42 when I was born.
I was 36 when my last child was born in 1997.

My folks are long passed away. However, my inlaws might as well be my parents. They've always treated me like one of their own and I love them the same way. Very fortunate in that respect. Her dad is 13 years older than her mom!

The thing we have today that wasn't as prevalent when we were kids in the 60's & 70's is the sex trafficing problem;which has been proliferated by the internet. Before the internet these kind of things still occured but not as rampidly as now; where they have a conduit of communication etc.

I watch my grandson like a hawk when in stores and I would advise yall to do the same with yourn. We see missing teenage girls go missing and I just cringe when I see that.

As a kid I used love standing on the running board as we headed across the field to pick up hay, hanging on to the mirror. Going to 4-H shows we'd stand at the back of the truck hanging on to the sideboard. I remember almost falling off when we started up again at a stop light.
When I was 10 or 11 my step father and I were checking out our sawmill at the top of a small mountain. He said to sit in the tractor bucket on our way down. I did and as we were moving along- the bucket dumped. I hit the ground and rolled out of the way as the tractor went by. It was a release bucket. - risk, you just had to be smart and figure what would go wrong before it happened.

My sons were more likely to be around the house growing up than I was. Tools meant nothing to them. But they were into karate. Black belts - one at 12, the other 15. The day they tested 4 hr. long - every kata form, self defense, sparring, 600 sit ups, 500 pushups, 500 front kicks. For 3months before - in addition to regular classes, they worked on endurance push ups and sit ups - 200 non stop of each - daily.
It paid off- There is a saying, that the real training in karate doesn't begin until after you are a blackbelt. That was evident as they worked their way up in tournament placements.

Lot of ways to be tough.

We will be a 3rd world country again and probably sooner than we think. Where has patriotism and love of Country gone? Rich get richer and the poor poorer. I fear we are all in the proverbial hand basket.

IMO this is only a possible scenario afterward if the current diversity would escalate exponentially into another civil war...

Don't be so ready to give up...some fires burn underground...
America hadn't seen a unity like the one following the 911 tragedy since after the attack on Pearl Harbor...That type of underlying unity is still there...The shame is what it takes to bring it out...
