25°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 49° today. Clouds made for a very colorful sunrise this morning.

Spent too much of yesterday waiting for a technician to show up to calibrate our CMM at work. Guy never showed. I found myself wondering if he works on VW Vanagons on the side. Going to take a little field trip today to drop off some smaller devices at another calibration facility.

Wife brought home a little dog Wednesday night ... well, it's more like a fuzzy little football. It's a poodle/yorkie mix. She occasionally does board-and-train sessions that she calls boot camps for difficult dogs. This one is a spoiled little brat, and does nothing but whine nonstop. It's owner apparently carries it around all day with her, and it's completely un-housebroken. They went to Mexico for a week and a half, so we have it until they return. She charges more money for doing this, but after the first couple of days even she is starting to wonder if this dog is already beyond repair. It will be an interesting 10 days.

Good morning! 51˚ in the Great "Red" State of Texas. That's right no bluebonnets out yet. All the color you see now are the red gravel roads.

Had to replace two batteries at Mom's her mower and pick-up. I'm getting a battery tender for her pick-up and her mower battery was 5 years old anyway. Her Pick-up battery was only 2 years old and both my battery checker and the Auto repair place where Dad bought the battery said it was bad. I did get $100 off the new battery because it was suppose to last 5 years. I was almost in a bind, my brother built wooden cabinets above the pick-up hood and I could not open the hood but a crack. The truck would not go in numeral with a dead battery and I was starting to think about dissembling the shelf when I managed to hook up a battery charger through the crack in the hood.

She has not driven the pick-up for a year but I still can't convince her to sell it.

At my place-
I put about 10 FELs of gravel on the low spots on the road and moved the rest of the gravel pile behind some trees. I also cleaned out a cattle guard with my little 3" shovel I bought last year, enough to fill the FEL three times - that's a lot of tiny shovel fulls.

RNG, I agree with Ron, you should take the some of the blame for assigning the wrong name. Don't forget to put that in your Amazon review - operator error!

Bad news from Mom's tax guy. He said we should have sold my parents cattle AFTER my dad died and we would not have to pay tax on the sale. Two thoughts on that: 1. We had no Idea when he was going to die and 2. I had rather been visiting with him than spending time doing all the stuff that his cows require.

Ok, since your wife likes challenges, next time we go on vacation we will will drop Wipper off to see if she can get Whipper to fetch by the time we return.
At least I'll know where to find her.

I'm a weldor, Don, so I'm used to taking the blame. Especially for things with which I had nothing to do. At first, when filling out the registration form for the Roomba, I called it Rosie after the robot maid on the old Jetsons cartoon. But I liked the sound of Hazel better, and changed it the next day. Not that it would have made any difference, but Lurch would have been a good male name, after the butler on The Adams Family. Works on several levels.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 6:00AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 63F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

That's a LOT of snow, Thomas! Hope you used the tractor on most of it.

Almost unbelievably, when I stopped by to see the mechanic yesterday, he was still trying to figure out how to get a throwout bearing working with the heavy duty clutch he wants to use. I say "almost" because almost nothing he does (or more accurately doesn't) do surprises me at this point. After a painfully elaborate explanation of the problem (his stutter was especially bad yesterday for some reason), he said he's taking it to a machinist today, and will call me tonight with the results. If the machinist can't figure it out, I agreed to work with him Saturday to see if together we can piece something together. Failing that, we'll go back to using the standard clutch, which I think is what we should have done to begin with.:muttering:

Latest batch of parts for the old motorcycle showed up yesterday, so I'm hoping for a productive day out in the garage. Might start it off with a bowl of chili; there's still an Instant Pot full of it in the refrigerator that I need to get bagged and into the freezer, so I might as well start off by taking care of that first.

TGIF gang!:drink:

In the FWIW department, today the Hendrix family has released another compilation of Jimi's work in the new Both Sides of the Sky album. The samples on Amazon sound really good, and is that Stephen Stills doing vocals on "Woodstock"? Guess I'll find out when my copy gets here...

Ed- I hope that Mom is breathing better today.

The old generic walker has evolved.

We pick up the new Forester later today.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all especially the Moms

I hope everyone has a decent day today.

More Doctors are learning about the benefits and necessity of a Plant Based diet for cardio patients. Wouldn't it be nice to be offered an option of diet change over surgery? Kind of like Forks over (surgical) Knives. This article answers all the questions about nutrition concerns and benefits for patients who switch to plant based. To my friends,

A bit warmer this morning 28*, it made it back up the mid 50's yesterday but still had the wind. Today is going to be in the low 50's with a mix of clouds, can't forget the wind 15-20.

It's been a bad year for the wind. It's only been a few days this winter that it hasn't been blowing. I don't remember it being like this in past years.

Not much going on today, might go up and visit the neighbor again.

Hope everyone gets a good start on the weekend.
CWB.

Don- Our new buyers' vehicle orientation is scheduled for midPM today.

The NWS is also predicting scattered snow squalls during the same time period.

It looks more and more likely that some of you guys living south of the Mason-Dixon line in the midAtlantic states will see some snow as Buppies and others have posted. It looks like the higher elevations will see the white stuff. I doubt that I will see anything from this weather event.

Buppies- March 20 - 22 is starting took look almost promising.

I remember walking into a record (CD) store several years ago and walking out with the "new" Jimi Hendrix album People, **** and Angels ... something I never thought I'd experience in my lifetime (I was 4 years old when he died). For many years, record companies have been releasing compilations of various things Jimi recorded. Some were even unfinished. Finally, though, the family put together a complete album, and it was even engineered by Eddie Kramer. It was finally a real Jimi Hendrix album. Stephen Stills played bass on one of the tracks on that one.

Jimi recorded just about everything he did. Glad they are finally releasing the good stuff.

Drew, have you had a chance to mow with that F series, yet?

My grass is growing like mad, and I don't think my mower will live through this season. Wondering if early spring is a good time to shop...any dealer/manufacturer specials? You guys have about convinced me to go the zero turn route.

You致e gotten a lot of testimonials on mowers, so let me get my $.02 in. I love my Kubota! I just have a 48 deck because it clears all my tight spots in the holly grove. It will mow at 9 mph if the terrain allows, full suspension seat, ROPS, which stays folded all the time. It will mow completely stable, long wise on my septic mound with no issues, always had to go side to side with the Simplicity. It has 23/10.50/12 rear tires. It takes me an hour to mow about two acres. Decks on that chassis go up to 60, bigger chassis have 72? And the deck and transmission are shaft drive, only belt is between the blades.

I keep forgetting about that when I go to Mom's. I need to show her a video on my notebook about a new stand straight walker. I don't think she wants to spend $600 for a new walker but then she does not have many expenses and I think her back and hands will feel better at night if her stress points using the walker change. Anybody know anyone with one of these?
Amazon.com: The UPWalker Walking Aid/Upright Walker: Health & Personal Care

Maybe you could ask around at the rest home?

Has anyone tried corn gluten as an organic pre emergent?

Hold on to you hats boys, there's a new INSTANT POT coming out later this spring.
It's called the INSTANT POT MAX.
"In addition to pressure cooking, sautéing, steaming and slow cooking, the Instant Pot will now have enough power to go up to the 15 PSI needed for safe, at-home preservation." New Instant Pot Max | Tasting Table

I might need a fourth!

My brother was just telling me his step daughter bought him something from Costco that is like InstaPot but can handle 3 mason jars at a time for preservation. He loves it.

I have no idea what the rules are today, but back about 50 years ago:laughing: . . . we could, and did, stop motorcycles and issue citations when appropriate. But if they ran, we were not supposed to give chase.

I can honestly say I was never a runner, but I know people who were crazy enough to do it....the LEO's around here NEVER stopped chasing motorcycles. I worked at the M/C shop for about 10-11 years off and on. We sold a bike to a good young man with a career. He got drunk and had a friend on back and for whatever reasons, they had their helmets strapped to the mirrors. They tried to outrun the cops, in 1986, and the cops gave chase. The young man was not in his right man and was soooo stupid, but he tried to run a red light at night across a 6 lane blvd and T-boned an innocent car. Drunk guy and passenger killed. Sent car passengers to hospital. There was a LOT of flak about the cops not backing off. I saw both sides of the story. Consider myself neutral. I wish they had a big garden sized net they could just pull up and catch those punk gangsta hooligans on dirt bikes. Down here, they've made hooliganisms (like wheelies, burn outs, or racing) such a heavy penalty, almost like a DWI. No wonder they run from cops. Maybe if they just backed the penalty for a wheelie where nobody got hurt back down to just a $100 fine, they might not run so much. Just a bad situation all the way around. Stoopid riders doing stunts in the middle of crowded streets is stooopid.

Yep, that the one I saw on TV. Sure seems like it makes sense. I’ve watched folks, with traditional walkers, moving along head down, focused on what’s 3 ft. In front of them. Makes my neck hurts watching them.

BTW, Don and Kyle, I’m heading up to Waco tomorrow morning for funeral of a long time friend I met in Vietnam Nam in 68. He is a Marine and I was USAF. I’ll miss him, we went thru a lot together there and since.

Semper Fi Marine!

I’ll honk as I pass by, coming and going!
I'll be listening. If I didn't have some meetings to go to, I'd like to meet you in person someday.

My neighbor has something like that, a bit smaller. It has a pipe coming out the top though-- he bottles what comes out and it will probably kill most bacteria.
Hopefully, his fancy instapot is made of copper or stainless... :)

Prayers for those in need spoken or unspoken Ed RIPTIDES his wife and Eddie Walkers wife
Yes. Extra prayers for Ed, Riptides and wife, Eddy's wife, Randy to have a great day, Drew for safe travels, Freedom lives sore shoulder and side, and for the Armed Forces of our country.
