"Springing forward" an hour in Spring is easy. The TV advises you to turn your clocks forward an hour at (for some reason) 2 AM.

"Falling back" an hour in Autumn is the real problem. Again with the 2 AM... so I set my alarm for 2 AM, wake up and put my clock back an hour.

An hour later my alarm goes off = it's 2 AM = so I put my clock back an hour.

An hour later... it's bloody EXHAUSTING!

But HEY! Just last Sunday was the first time you could buy alcohol on a Sunday in Indiana since prohibition, so we're making progress!!!

How can I not post this video of the great Bruce Yandle (a gentleman and a scholar) discussing his theory of the Bootleggers and the Baptists?

^^^ I thought that was Lee Iaccoca...

The above certainly has been the case with Bay Area Real Estate.

I have an older home dating from the mid 1950's... and it is very much 1950 and one of the oldest and smallest in the neighborhood.

People building here for the last 20 years have ever increasing costs rolled into construction... seismic standards, city and county fees for permits, utility hook up charges... etc...

The new requirements add hundreds of thousands to the cost of a new single family home...

Since it costs so much to build new the price of older homes with NONE of the above is pulled up too...

It is the same for zoning... one of my friends spend 5 years from start to finish building his home... several years were in design review and engineering... when he built in the same neighborhood 25 years prior start to finish was 1 year...

I like DST. It's another indicator that Spring/Summer is around the corner and in the fall it means we're shutting down for the winter.

However, I didn't see the logic behind shifting the start/end times of the DST.

I have no problem with keeping daylight savings time. Just be sure all the states do it consistently, rather than a few that do or don't. Sometimes difficult enough with different time zones, never mind different times in the same time zone when you try to call them on the phone or meet them in another state at a specific time.

It is now a subject that I do not care about. Finally - all my clocks, watches, microwaves etc change time automatically. I'm retired and sleep as long and whenever I want - don't give a dam what time it is.

Daylight Savings Time is living proof of our government in action:

We do. It's called GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). It's what TBN runs.

Also known as Zulu time in the military. :salute:

Yes, UTC, like the metric system, has many advantages in this day and age. But like the metric system in the US there are too many people that won't adapt.
