Cold is coming here as well for a week. Snow expected.
Someone is coming to look at the Czech walk behind tractor. Looks like I need to clean the carb on the Honda GSV motor though, it quits at low RPMs. I hope the guy buys it, because I need a place to park the Iseki when it gets delivered sometime next week.
Politics has been interesting the past month to say the least...
So far, mafia hasn't been a problem for us. We lock doors religiously and carry guns anyway. Cheap insurance. I don't know why that poor journalist and his fiancee who were killed didn't do likewise.
I was afraid for a bit last year that the "subsidy farmer" who was using my wife's family's land without permission might be a problem, but thankfully it was not-- we explained that is our land, sorry that he spent money clearing brush from it to get subsidies, but there is a duty under the law for farmers to contact owners, so in exchange for this free "legal advice"-- he seemed genuinely unaware that there were private owners on the field where he also had a rental contract from the state-- things were fine. But there are others around here that are much bigger players, who already attacked another local farmer (himself a pretty big farmer), and if we have to get in to conflict with them, the habits we have may pay off. Thanks all to the EU and its direct payment system in agriculture that let's people who get cheap state rental contracts make a fortune mulching grass...
Speaking of guns, tomorrow morning is the first shooting competition of the year at the club. I anticipate a low turnout due to sub-zero temperatures-- maybe, if low enough, I can get in to the top 3.
