This may be the ultimate thing that never happens anymore:

As a kid I delivered newspapers after school on my bike. One day 2 bigger kids chased me and tried to rob me while hitting me on the back. I pedaled faster and got away. The next day, while doing my monthly door-to-door collecting for the newspaper bill, an elderly lady said she saw what happened and told me that she never wanted that to happen to me again. She handed me a .22 Deringer! I still have it. I was 12 years old at the time.

Like I said. That would never happen today.

My wife grew up in the hood in Houston. Had an older girl that used to rob the smaller girls of there lunch money and or lunch. Wife had her lunch stolen once. The next day she had a brick in her purse  :p She was 10, the robber was 16. She wouldn't go near my wife after that whooping  Could you imagine what those charges would have been today

My oldest son got suspended from school the first day of kindergarten. He had left for school 2 hours before. :confused2: Principal said he started a fight on the school bus. Wife got over to the school to talk to the principal. Come to find out another boy had pulled up a girls skirt as she was walking by. My son was defending the girl. When my wife got done with the principal, he was apologizing to my son

What's your opinion?

The brains of a whole generation are being destroyed by video games and cell phones. There's going to be a heavy price to pay in the future.

All about zero tolerance practiced today...

My niece stepped in when a bully was was repeatedly shoving another into the mud.... she was in second grade and told the bully to stop and the bully said how are you going to make me... my niece said I will knock you out cold and the bully said you will be suspended and my niece said my Daddy will Home School me then and I won't have to be around mean girls like you...

My brother got a call from the school the next day and had to come in because his daughter had threatened to knock the other girl out cold if she didn't stopped pushing the little girl down into the mud for laughs...

My brother said his girls know the difference between right and wrong and he was proud of her...

A lot depends on how the parents see the world when it comes to supporting their child.

Absolutely. The parents that say little Johnny or Suzie can do no wrong are just as bad. My middle son was the poster child for birth control. Corporal punishment is still in schools here. We had the principal tan his hide one day. It was that or another suspension.

I have two coworkers that have pulled there teenage daughters out of school due to bullying. One coworker first transferred his daughter to another school district. Then pulled her out after she had her feelings hurt. Gone are the days of meeting the bully after school, knocking the snot out of them and going on about your buisiness.

One of my coworkers was at her wits end with her son... she is a single mom, the father is no where to be found and she has no family within 2000 miles of California.

I suggested she sign him up for youth sports... she resisted but decided it was worth a try... it transformed their lives and no more calls from the school after that about her 8 year old.

He was now part of a team, had structure and discipline and simple things like going to bed on time and not fighting over video games were no longer a problem... her son said Coach said sleep is important to to your best... taught respect and everyone has a job to do.

It really hit home when she had to take continuation education and scheduled it on a Saturday... her son said... Mom, I don't want to let the guys on the team down... she paused and said you are right and we will make sure you are there.

It maybe overly simplistic but too often kids are left on their own... at least my experience from managing rental property... and it is fair to say that many single parents are doing the best they can and are overwhelmed... those working, paying the bills, etc...

It's the kids that suffer... and I have seen plenty in the juvenile system as young as 10 for breaking and entering...

Strange to read that normal behavior must be allowed by law.
Where I live kids witch don't live to fare from school and has a safe way to do it is expected to walk. And we are talking kilometers to walk.

About 10 years ago when my daughter was at High School she was being taunted by a group of boys, they would corner her and throw live spiders at her, what was funny is that she is not in the least bit afraid of spiders and when we get big huntsman spiders in the house she will pick them up and take them out and release them in the garden.
After a few weeks she got tired of this and unbeknown to me she went out into one of our paddocks and found a young tiger snake and put it in her bag, when she was taunted again she pulled it out and threw it at them.
We got a call from the school as the boys reported her (and in her words, they screamed like girls) and she got a detention.
The tiger snake is a nasty little beast and this one was about a foot long, the are very venomous and not slow to take a snap at you, also very fast, turns out she used my welding gloves to pick it up.
I don't know if I posted this before, my apologies if I did but what bothered me was that the boys in question did not receive any form of reprimand for their continued taunting and bullying, I was almost proud of her for what she did and would have loved to have been there to see the reaction.

We got a call from school one day about our daughter. A boy was bullying her. She waited till he was in a room full of people and started on her again. She told him to come see her when his testicles dropped

Simlar situation. Boy didn't get get into any trouble for harassing her. But they wanted to suspend her for that. Took a good hour after my wife got home from meeting with the principal and told me what happened before I stopped snickering and laughing periodically :D

About a week later he was back harassing my daughter off school grounds. She broke his nose :cool2:
